this thing is a tank! It's as big as my road king I had a few years back. My guitars at a friends at the moment so all i can do at this moment is bask in its glory. Sure is a bitch not having some thing to run thru it. I have a washburn DIME3ST to ripp thru but no cab, so tomorrow I was going to run it thru my friends road king cab.(use to be mine ) I'll give a full report once i plug this baby in. I am looking at the avatar cabs so i should have one soon. but enough about me. Here's some guitar porn for you guys. It's in the ShredderPlex-esqu style w00t Anthony

Welcome!
Looks great in the Shreder style. Did you get it used? That headbox was updated over the summer.
Little tip on the Avatars: they sell their own stuff on eBay, not just their site, so you can get a steal. I wanted an empty cab, which they weren't offering at the site, but got one direct from Avatar via their eBay sales for pennies. They still treated me very well (Dave had me gabbing on the phone for 30 minutes) and did a great double boxed packing job.
In other news, I can't imagine the torture of getting a Splawn delivered and having no guitar.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking for a while and i already feel at home. Yeah I got it used off the bay for $1200. The listing said that during the wait the seller picked up another boutique amp so this one had to go. Seller said he had it for about 2 weeks. I believe it too because this thing is absolutely minty. It even had some of the original saran wrap on the handle. I wonder if he even got the tubes hot. And i noticed that it was the new Classic Layout version too. This thing was just begging me to buy it. Cool cosmetics too. I had been wanting a COMP for a while now. Oh and no wait for a virtually brand new SPLAWN! Thanks for the tip on the avatars. I was going to get an oversized 2x12 style box. Still undecided on the speakers though. I mostly play metal so the obvious choice seems to be x patterned h30/v30s, but i kinda want to try greenbacks for early breakup at lower volumes. The Mesa cab I'll be playing with has something called Black Shadows in them. I think they're relabeled V30s so I'll have a better grasp of what i want after i run thru them a bit.

OMFG! This thing absolutely rips. So articulate, so tight. IMO, it put the MESA to shame. I would play a chord on the Comp and it would ring out every note perfectly without mudding up. The MESA farted out with the same about of gain.It was oversaturated if you will. Not the splawn. I always wondered what you guys meant by adjectives like tight and articulate, It was clear after about 5 mins on the splawn. I made the right decision, Splawn is awesome. And the Comp is a great model. With the volume at 9o'clock, it easily pumped out enough volume to cut thru a hard rock band at full volume. Not only did it cut thru the mix, repeatedly stabbed it like a psychotic killer 50 watts is more than enough for rock/metal. and maybe it was because of the MESA cab, but i didn't miss the bottom end at all. In fact I turned it down quite a bit. I didn't miss the clean at all either, just roll the Vol knob back and it cleans up great. WOW! So the Black shadows aren't V30s because they're labeled at 90watts each. But they still sounded good. I think I'll soon buy a boost to get the btrootlz, but this thing has more than enough gain as it is. But from reading the KSE thread i thing Ill look into a OD808 to turn this monster into a riffer from hell. Rock on Splawnites -ants

I hear ya bro'. The majority of talk on here is usually about the Quickrod and Ive even thought about picking up a used one. But my competition really satifies my needs too. I can back off my volume and hit my chorus and its clean as I want. Very clean actually. Turn the guitar back up and its back to rockin! 1st Gear overdrive 2 is where I usually stay.

H, I too was suprised at how nice it cleaned up. Do you run the chorus in the loop?

H, I too was suprised at how nice it cleaned up. Do you run the chorus in the loop? Yup, in the loop...Actually I wasnt using any effects for awhile coz the jam room has great room reverb. But I wanted alil chorus for the cleans. I got a deal on a Visual Chorus H2O pedal. One pedal with chorus and delay. Works great.
