Thinking about buying one of these guys. Love what I hear. One trick pony is just fine since I have a Mesa Road King 2 for versatility. Big question for me is can you dial in a solid Slash AFD tone? See a lot of the other 80s monsters mentioned, but that tone is the specific Marshall on steroids tone I am mainly chasing.
BTW, would be plugging a McNaught VSC with Rio Grandes into it with v30 speaker cabs to help answer the other variables question in advance. Love those pickups.
Thanks in advance - and thanks for creating the community to answer questions since these are not exactly try in the store amps for most of us.

It's far from a one trick pony though.

Yeah it can get the slash tone, and it's better than slash's tone.

Thanks. Gotcha on one trick, no harm meant. Drawn to the simplicity of the competition.

2nd Gear is your one stop shop for Slash tone!
I was a GNR child, used to play covers all the time, and when I got the Competition this summer and found my feet on 2nd Gear my immediate thought was, OMG, Sweet Child O' Mine. 2nd is just great for those thick-but-clear tones; it also reminds me of Gary Moore's sounds. A good mahogany body seems to complement this very well.
Not sure how you'll get along with those V30s; they're infamous around here for being too nasal with Splawn amps. I hooked mine up to the Comp and liked the warm top end, but they really have their own mid spike honk that colors the sound no matter what you do with the EQ, and lack the detail of the Emis.

Me too.
I also have a Marshall 4-12 with Greenbacks and it sounds great too.
To my ears , the V30's are louder and much more chunkier. They move alot of air.
The GB's sound great too when I want a more classic sound.
