Competition and Pro-Stock guys. I don't think this would occur on either the QR or the PM, but feel free to comment anyway.
You know you have 2nd gear with two positions of the knob: 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd. The other day I was crankin in it up. I noticed that there is a fairly faint hum in all the gears (especially with OD2 and higher gain settings). What I also noticed is that if you have the footpedal set for 2nd gear, and you switch the gear selector knob between 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd, the intensity of the hum changes. It would seem to me that it shouldn't make any difference, but I dunno. I don't think I've noticed any diff in tone, but I'll check that again when I get the opportunity.
Probably being a girl, but just wondered.

Here's what I got JM, I cranked my P.S. up to over 10 and with the volume up on my guitar (but not playing) I get no difference in hum/noise switching the 'gears' knob back and forth. However, with the volume down on my guitar I get a more prominent hum when the gear knob is in 1st/2nd then 2nd/3rd. That help at all???

Hmmm. I'm intrigued now. Could be something as simple as being near a TV, refrigerator, AC.
Pre-tubes maybe?

Pre tubes would be a good guess

Scott also suggested that when I spoke with him (whilst ordering a 2x12). Electrical currents, etc.

I run my Pro stock Through a Monster power center 1000. Clean up the AC line & provide ultra clean power. I do not experience hardly any Hum of any nature.
