last week i found a new quick rod on ebay. so i hit the buy it now button, and went for broke. it should be here in a few days. the previous owner only had it for 3 days before he put it up for sale. i had been putting it off for three months, and called scott last week to see what the wait time was. i was told six weeks. i knew i had to get one after i saw euruption on 04-30-05

Steve,
I'm right behind ya. I bid on the other Quick rod that was on ebay last week and won it. I saw the one you bid on but went with the previous model being I didn't care about the seperate Eq for the clean and I wanted the more classic Marshall look. I don't care for the look of the new ones as much. The funny thing is the guy you bought yours from lives in my area and I could have driven to pick it up.. I am not even sure if I am going to keep mine being I don't play out live but I had to get it out my system. If I decide to let it go I will post it up here before ebay.

Steve,
Its a 100 watt quick rod not a 50. The only difference from yours is the Chasis and no Eq on the clean channel. I was messing around with a Bogner etc and a soldano slo 100 in a local music store today and they sounded great. I am sure the Splawn will hold up against those amps at a much more reasonable price. If It sounds as good as those I will be happy. If it sounds better I will be amazed. I have a fender prosonic head right now which also gets a real nice sound but the low end is a little boomy. I won't keep them both so if the splawn does sound that much better then the fender even at lower levels the prosonic will go to ebay heaven...

dudes...i was eyeing both of those amps...and i already have 2 quick rods...ha! nice to see that they went to family members here...you won't be disappointed...i just had mine fired up and it never fails to impress me...
my band is playing "sweet child of mine" and this thing nails that tone...

Two splawns.. Why? I never understood why guitar players have so much gear. Especially amps. I see guys with 5 or 6 different amps and I'm like Huh..... I don't know if its me but to to my ear most of the newer high gain amps sound so similar. I played through a Bogner xtc today for around an hour, sounded great and then plugged into an SLO and it pretty much did the same thing. I think in my old age my ears are not as critical as they used to be. If some of these amps would have been out in the 80's I would have been in heaven. I guess tailin 40, tone just isn't a priority anymore. For whats its worth I am sure the splawn will be fun to play around with. Whats funny is it appears the quick rods have a better resale then the pro-mod yet the pro-mod is more money. Go figure?

I wish it were the 80's and I was playin out live with it. i'm going to let you cats in on a little "secret" that my buddy showed me...if you run an alesis midiverb in the loop you can crank the amp and use the alesis' input function as a volume knob...this way you can crank the amp and play it at any volume level and have it sound great... i'm sure this works with any other piece of equipment that will allow you to control the input...but i have the midiverb 4
