Greetings. This is my first post on this forum. I know I am going to buy a Splawn amp, but I am having a hard time deciding if I want the QR or the Competition. The clean channel isn't that important to me and 50 watts should be plenty of power. I do want to have the same 800 modded sounds as the QR in the three gears. Will the competition give me that? Part of me wants to just go for it and get the QR, but part of me says only get the amp I need. How does the competition amp sound on half power mode? Sorry for all the questions, I am just looking for some more feedback before getting my order in. I am hoping to do that today..
Thanks,
Kirk

If you have no interest in the clean channel then by all means go for the Competition. HOwever, you never know down the road when you might be interested in having a clean channel on your amp. It's just an added bonus to have there to click over to whenever you need it. If I were you I'd put an order in for a Boa snakeskin Quick rod. There's a couple cool dudes on this forum that have those.

the comp is a fine amp.. I love mine, and it cleans up pretty fine with the volume knob on your guitar down.

Plus, it takes distortion pedals really well and that always adds to your tonal arsenal. Oh, disregard the snakeskin option...it's 80's ghey. ;D

The competition on half power sounds warmer ,spongier and smoother. But I like it a lot better on full power cause it sounds bigger and fuller with more presence. Go for it.
