Ok I've tried to like this amp since I got it but it isnt happening it sounded too thin and I couldnt get it to sound anything like a guitar amp.. it just sounded like a buzz saw in a tin can..
after trying different speakers, cables, beam blockers everything I couldnt get a decent tone..
took my guitar to college today and plugged it in.. sounded weak and horrible.. was like wtf?! took it apart tonight and a wire was loose.. rewired all the insides after noticing a few dry solder joints..
and oh my god.. does this splawn rock my socks or what? i mean jesus christ this amp is good! hahaha and it was my sh!tty wiring at fault not the amp..
tonal heaven.. happy man.

Good deal James. I first started reading your post and was thinking ..huh?.. Glad you found the problem. The more I play mine, the more I love it. It will be a long time before the honeymoon is over with this amp..if ever..

James, I can't remember... did you pick it up used? Man, I just love mine more every day. It took a couple of weeks to get into it since I've played low volume with Line 6 for the last 6 years, and there was this transition time to get used to a big tube amp, but once I got into the groove I really started loving it.
The other day we were driving down the road and this happened:
My wife said, "what'd you say?" I said, "huh?" She said, "What'd you say?" I said, "I said that out loud?" She said, "Yes, what'd you say?" I said "I was just thinking: goddam that amp sounds great."
I was thinking it, but didn't realize I had said it out loud. Good thing I wasn't thinking about something else I couldn've gotten in trouble for.

Cant believe you had faults with it, was it a new amp or what did you do to it?.
i'll be gutted when my competition arrives if its anything less than stellar.
I had nightmares settling in with a laney vh100r esp when my 11 yr old wartorn GH100L ROCKS, they must of changed components as the vh100r was inferior in tone

That was getting me a little concerned ha, makes total sense now about faulty guitar wiring causing tonal problems with the amp
