The splawn has arrived, was a bit kinda overwhelmed when i plugged it in with this face tearing treble and it was so ice picky i was terrified i'd made a bad choice in this amp..
but after about 10 hrs of playing the speakers i think have broken in a bit and the bass has appeared and the mids are singing now..
well it's lovely just want the speakers to break in a bit more and the amp to cook it's self silly so it's ready to rock n roll..

Congrats bro. Yeah, the Splawn is trebly. But so are Marshalls! Somewhere in the grunged out '90s guitar tones started turning into mud and metal heads started tuning so low they're in bass territory. I'm starting to see guitar tones return to their normal state and love it. Embrace the face ripping treble!!!

Congratulations, you will realize, that your life takes an upswing, cause the splawn makes the difference. I GUARANTEE. Rock the entire british nation, if you can bro. I really like what I get from my wah pedal, when I use it in front of my splawn set up. TONE ON BROTHER.

Strange, I find my Quick Rod is lacking in treble, I have to run it with the presence almost cracked wide open and the treble basically cranked to get it bright. What is strange is that it sounds fine, has plenty of low end and mid range grunt, just not as bright as I would like it. I think I need to retube it , I have said that for like a few months now, guess I just need to order up a new quartet of 34's.

This is the first amp (pro mod) I have owned that I have actually ran the presence way up also. I think Splawn is a balanced amp, but a lot has to do with cabs and also a lot has to do with how loud you have it. I find my amp, the lows get MUCH bigger as I turn up to stage volume. The highs smooth out as well. At practice volume it sounds thinner.
What kind of speakers did you get in your cab? I find speakers vary HUGELY on how much info above say 5000hz is there. My greenbacks are super warm on top, while my practice cab with the 75 watt celestions has a little more with scooped mids, and I have a cab with Jensens that have treble that rips your face off!
Keep trying to break your cab in and if you still dont like it, try some other cabs and maybe you can swap speakers if you find its the speakers that you dont like.
I also agree with the opinion of a lot of that treble you kinda need. Have you taken it to band practice yet? Once you jam with the drummer that could change your mind.

i've got eminence Private Jacks n Governors in an X pattern, i've changed the wire inside the cab that hooks to speakers together with the inside of a mains lead instead of the super expensive audio cable i was using, seems to have warmed up considerably.. also installed some Weber Beam blockers and they've tamed the treble a fair old ammount.. think maybe i'll install some other speakers or buy another cab at a later date.. but not just yet coz now it's singing.
