Glad to hear that it sounds good through the marshall. At the moment i am using my vetta combo through the marshall but as soon as my Quick Rod gets here the vetta is becoming a rack! I cant wait.My band has some good gigs coming up this summer, one of them through a 10,000k rig at a hot rod rally,i am looking forward to hearing my Quick Rod through that!!

I play my QR through a Stock Marshall 4x12 strait cab loaded with G12-75's. It sounded unbelievable! The bass had a punch that would knock you over. It sounded very similar to the "EVH" soundclips on the splawn website, where the guy was using 2 EV speakers.
But I wanted a warmer, more distorted 70's (VH), sound. (like Scott Splawns soundclip). So I ordered 2 Celestion Anniversary 30's, G12-30H's, called HellaTones. I put them in X-config like Scott Splawns does. It really warmed it up alot. The leads sounded much more full, as opposed to thin. But then I missed the raw power the 75w speakers provided in the bass notes, so I took out one of the G12-30Hs, I removed the one that was on the bottom and replaced it with the 75w. That does it for me! (3) 75-watters and (1) 30-watter. Massive amounts of tight bottom end, with just enough warmth and distortion from the G12-30H to make the leads just sing! LOVE IT!
Thanks again to Scott for giving me the idea of blending in the G12-30H's with the stock cab.
I also have a classic 4x12 (30w greenbacks) and vintage 4x12 (60w vintage, but called Vintage 30's), which I have not tried yet.... I'll let you know. But I know I've already found the perfect speaker setup for me. 3+1!!!

LOL, yeah, I did the same exact thing! I knew it was time to get a Splawn when I was coming home from work and listening to splawn clips for 2 or 3 hours a day! I just couldn't believe how good they sounded. I've been searching soooo long.... I just could not believe my ears.
I don't have any recording equipment set up now, we just moved. But, I do have a recording of me playing through my 6100 Marshall, and actually that's what sold me. I played my 6100 clip, which I thought was pretty darn good, then I played scott's "VH-women in love" QR clip. It was like night and day.
My QRod amp setup sounds very, very similar to Scott's clip. Except I can tell his guitar is more solid. It sounds like a George Lynch ESP (although I know it's not, that's just the only thing I've played that sounds like that). I usually play a Kramer. It sounds a little looser, more open. When I play my Les Paul standard it sounds slightly heavier, but the amp tone always sounds the same - great! Of course, it should sound the same as Scott's. We're using the same amp and same speakers, just different speaker config. The small differences like cabinet resonances, and feel, and feedback to the player, would probably not be picked up by my junky recorder anyway.
But my amp DOES sound just like the clips. But I made sure I was listening to the EL-34 QuickRod clips. Different tubes will make it sound very different.
That being said, I can't wait to set up my soundcard/recorder again (we just moved and it's not set up yet) and record the same song on my QR as I did on my Marshall 6100 100w head. I already know the QR will blow it away. But I'd love to A/B it.
You will Love your QuickRod!

that's the great thing about the quick rod...the clips you hear on scott's site is exactly what it sounds like when you get it home...that's not the case with some other amps...

Glad to know that I'm not the only sicko patiently waiting for my Quick Rod to be sent. I downloaded all of the sound clips onto my hard drive and burned them onto a CD. My home stereo rocks so I have been enjoying that while I wait! I played the disc for my friend and he already called Scott to send his Marshall 1959slp in to be modded.
