I stumbled across them on ebay.....I was doing my everyday search for a Marshall head and a plexi reissue popped up with the words Splawn modded. I clicked on the auction and there was a 1987x splawn modded plexi. I thought wow that looks cool, as i scrolled down the page he had a link to Splawnguitars.com and stated sound clips available. Well i clicked on it and bam right there on my screen was the pro mod. Well the rest is history and i am a big fan of splawn amps.

In my seamingly endless search for tone, I typed in some words in Google... like I've done at least 1,000 times before, trying to find that perfect distortion, the elusive sound.
Since I like 80's rock, I typed in RATT DISTORTION. But right before I hit the search button, I was thinking "Oh, this will never work, I'm just going to pull up a lot of sites about the ProCo. Ratt distortion pedal, but what the heck, by then I had already hit the button.
Oh, hey, here was a site with a guy FROM Ratt (the band). Cool, I'll check it out... I wonder what "Splawn" means.... HEY NOW!!! what are these sound clips... I can't believe it!! Within a few days (and playing the sound clips hundreds of times) I was on the phone calling the store, to my suprise Scott Splawn was the one who answered the phone! I told Scott I would be ordering an amp by that Friday. This was my most awesome discovery in tone in 30 years. The rest is History. I'm addicted to my QuickRod 100. I never thought I would love anything as much as a Marshall.
That day I found MUCH more than a distortion pedal. I found an Awesome Amp!!!!
Thank God the guy from Ratt likes Splawn amps too!

My story is almost identical to JCM800's post. I was on e-bay looking at Marshalls and found one that had been modified by Scott. I did a search for Splawn, heard the sound clips, sold some old San Dimas Charvel parts, begged my wife for the rest of the money, and ordered a Quick Rod a week later!
