sorry craig...i'm on a self-imposed sabbatical from discussing anything evh related...my lack of a comment should not be misconstrued as me being embarassed by what ed is doing though. i'm glad he's creating music and he does look pretty good |

it IS ok to not like something your idols do ,though =D
I'm about as big a maiden fan as you can find, but I'm the first to say that everything after 7th son is mediocre..AT BEST...some of it is just flat out awful =)

I know you won't debate it, and thats fine I respect that. But you should just be bummed like me that my childhood hero is now not even an average guitarist. Hes a below average hack now. That sucks. I still feel sorry for him and hope he gets better, but I'm sad and p1ssed that my hero sucks now. Yes, he does suck too. Theres no debating that. I know enough about music and guitar playing to be able to say in complete confidence that Edward Van Halen sucks at guitar.
I'm REALLY REALLY bummed by this news.. EVH writing music for a porno!!!!!!!

ahh man really..!! dang. Like I said I totally respect you, but I am soooooo bummed I can't even explain it without sounding bitter and angry. the only way you could take what I say seriously is to fist understand my love for all things VH. From my 500+ cd collection of bootlegs, rare vinyl and 2 boxes I have full of shirts, magazines, posters, tourbooks, memorabilia etc... it just sickens me to no end,, this on top of the DLR butchering of classic VH tunes. ..I like and respect bluegrass musicians,,, but leave VH out of it! .. this is like THE WORST year for all things VH. Ok,, I'm done.  |

What in the world is Edward thinking? i just wrote a fookin thesis about this and it logged me out before i could post it...oh man ed will always be the guy that wrote those great albums and changed people's understanding of the guitar...it's cool to bash the guy now...ed's on meth, ed's a drunk, ed killed a family of beavers and moved into their dam.... the reality is that recently all we've mainly heard is some badly recorded live clips...the house of petals clip is a 29 second clip from an impromtu fusion jam...the rhythm guitar playing is horrible (not ed) and you can almost see ed turn to someone like WTF?...29 seconds taken out of a moment in time whose context were not sure of...needles to say at least he's playing...same w/ the kenny chesney clips...ed and alex are out there playing. the porno, the way i understand it he had some of this music already written and his buddy helped him finish it and it's being put in a film...so it's an adult film...so what... honestly, with this internet age...someone can be unhappy with something and spread his unhappiness with said something over the globe in no time...i even have a theory that VH3 failed mainly because of the internet...no coincidence that it was the first album from him since the internet went global. i really feel people won't be happy w/ anything the guy does...he's pretty much d**ned...best case scenario, dlr comes back and they go on tour...ed's playing great.....anyone can post derogatory comments and fan the flames..."ed shanked the solo to somebody get me a doctor!"... now i'm not delusional...i'll agree that the ed presented to us via the media isn't that great...just saying that that may not be the whole story... as long as ed walks the earth there's hope... |

I know, I know.. I hope hes healthy, I don't care how "old" he looks, I don't care what hes smoking, drinking, shooting, or f#$king.. all I'm saying is that dude can't play guitar anymore ..at least not real well. THATS whats bumming me out. All the other negativity on what he looks like etc.. is just silly.
