What's wrong with that riff? That song sold millions of albums. Kiss realized that they had to capture the vibe of a live show. Their studio albums aren't the greatest. The live CD's rock!!! LIsten to Kiss Alive II and tell me Dr. Love doesn't rock. Ok, I checked out the riff at a friends house. It was a complete and utter mess....to quote Simon Cowell. I guess it all boils down to the fact that your a lover and I'm a hater. But that's ok....if it does it for you, and millions of others, then rock on! Patrick Now I'm curious as to what are some of your favorite bands and riffs?

Some things annoy me so much that it turns into hate. That's why I am an opinionated SOB, but oh well. I guess if you grew up with them then I could see being onto it as a sentimental thing. For me, its like manoopee says, a commercial kinda exploitation cartoon band. Not much different than New Kids On The Block or Menudo. A big problem is the singing too, Paul Stanleys voice annoys me and Craig I don't what you were listening to but any thing recently I heard sounded like a goat suffocating. It's kinda like REM. I guess they made good songs but I hate the singing and they go into my "Headache Band" category. Strange phenomenon really, the instant I hear their music I get a migraine, sort of boredom, headache.

The riff to "My heart will go on" makes me weep every time I hear it! ;D I'm a big Malmsteen, Van Halen, George Lynch fan. Some of my favorite riffs include Lynch's "When Heaven Comes Down", any riff by Van Halen, Round and Round from Ratt....etc, etc. My favorite Malmsteen riff is "I am a viking". I know, I know....super cheesy lyrics...but that riff just chugs along....yeah, baby! Patrick

His singers all have that cheesy 80's primal (almost female) scream thing down and that gives me the same kind of migraine that Don gets. Lynch Mob is good guitar but songwise, nothing really there for me. Van Halen, good stuff. Van Hagar, next...............Knowing your influences helps me understand why you dislike Kiss. How bout AC/DC? Again simplistic chords and crafty songwriting that has sold millions of albums.

When I first heard them I didn't like them because they weren't using modded marshalls and tapping and sweeping like the rest of the 80's crowd. Thankfully, I've matured and I can really respect what they've done. I've learned a great deal about the feel of a solo and the sheer joy to be had by bashing out a chord progression. I've also gained a great appreciation regarding their tone....it's harder than you think. Patrick

kiss is what got me into music when i was 7 years old you have to respect what they have accomplished. ace has come up with a lot of catchy riffs defiantly one of the most sloppiest players out there though
