Guys, I need some advice! I just got hired as a Graphic Designer. I won't be starting this place for another 2 weeks from now. Well, I think I am going to get screwed. Here is how it goes:
1st interview: I was told $10hr starting, no insurance for a year, and you get a raise every 90 days.
2nd interview: $10hr starting, no insurance, a raise in the first 90 days, and no raise for 6 months.
phone call yesterday: $9.50hr for the first week - then $10hr after, a raise in the 1st 90 days, 2nd 90 days, and then every 6 months after.
Now, the story changes every time that I talk to the guy. I feel like I am going to get screwed! What do you guys think?

I think you should ask them to put the first offer in writing and go from there.

According to the guy, the 3rd offer was the first offer and thats what he was sticking with. Cause I questioned it! I feel like the guy could be a con artist. The problem is if started the job and decided to quit within the first or second week I could get even more screwed. I won't sign any contract!
I went to a different interview yesterday that was much better!!!!!! The place was exactly what I was looking for. Got to get a second interview with this new place though. And get this.....its next door to Hooters and Roxy's night club is accross the street! LOL

Well, I have 2 weeks to decide, and it might be in my best interest to just turn the job down. I might be having a second interview with the other place, so I at least have a back up plan.........even though there is NO GARENTEE!

I won't sign any contract! I wouldn't sign a contract either. I was stating to have them put the offer in writing. Just so there's no if's and's or but's about it. Black and white right in front of you is a lot easier to discuss than people saying one thing and then the next day another. If it's located next to Hooters that could be a plus. Maybe you could have them put down in the offer that everyday you get to have a Hooters girl at lunch do the "Arabian goggles" on you. That could be cool! ;D

The Arabian goggles are good. The Two dogs in a boat is better. The meatball splash is a good one too!

You how much COBRA would be for me here? Almost $1,100 per month, that's what my company is currently paying for family coverage. And I know that's true, I'm the Finance Dir for my company. But $1100 per month is enough to keep me up at night pondering what if's..........

Loose Job 1, he wont keep his promise of any pay raise or anything else. and it will just make you mad. and you will get screwed ( either way) the guy is a flake. imagine he does business like that daily I am sure! keep pushing for job #2!
Cobra is Hi dollar stuff.. Sometimes Blue Cross Blue Shield is cheaper. insurance is a huge thing! Specially if you have a family.
Best Wish's!!

The guy really seems like a fake. I can wait a little longer for a job. Job 2 is a much better deal and more worth my time. I went back and spoke with a couple of college professors that I had in my Graphics program. They all said the same thing.........don't trust them! And I don't!
