In the past I've been recording acoustics with cheap acoustic/electric hybrids and was never happy with the tinny fake sound..Even the Taylor sounded like @ss plugged in. So A few months ago I bought a good all solid wood classical nylon string and it sounds pretty good.. so I thought I'd get a condenser mic and try recording this thing.. I got a Audio-Technica Pro-24 stereo condenser. It seems pretty cool and it was only $80.. so check this out.. Just a 3 chord vamp and one take improv.. no Eq'ing just added some reverb (For Vom of course). hair-metal.com/tunes/spanish.mp3On my monitors it sounds great, on my PC speakers it sounds too boomy.. what do you guys think of the sound EQ-wise? Is there like an EQ curve for acoustics thats standard? So I mic'ed it straight on into the soundhole about 4 inches away.

sounds good dude! the lead might sound a little on the distant side, but I don't think it sounds too boomy...and I have pretty decent speakers on my pc...
and to think about 6 weeks ago you were complaining about how much of a 'mongo' (your word, NOT mind...lmao) you were with computer recording! =P

I need to get a Flamenco guitar,, the action way is too high on this Classical to solo on LOL... jeesh I was fighting the pick through every note. It is distant,, but its also sloppy, so it can stay distant.. LMAO.. this was ONLY a TEST.

LMAO.. this was ONLY a TEST. with that reverb it sounded perfectly clean....LOL... seriously, I think you're more critical of your playing than I am of mine I fail to own an acoustic because I can't friggin' play them....hahahahah... so what's the difference between a classical and a flamenco?

ESTEBAN!!!! Yeah, tats the vibe I was goin' for,, LMAo.
A flamenco has alot lower action and setup for lead playing.. brighter woods too.
A Classical has about 1/4" high action and it just a b1tch for leads.

Shred man you gotta pick up an acoustic. I've got two Taylors and I love them. Doing the acoustic gigs during the week are so much fun.

TJ which of the Taylor steel-strings sound good unplugged? Is it possible to have it both ways? The Taylor I had just didn't have the bottom of this Classical I got now. I liked the top end though.

I've got the 814-C. It's the only one that I have w/out a pickup. The other one I have which I gig with is a 714 or something. It's a cheaper model but believe it or not I like it more so than the 814-C. They both sound great. I play the 714 through a SWR Strawberry Blonde.
