I went to see shredder's cover band on Saturday night to hear the Quick Rod in action. Man, that thing sounded killer! I told him the bassists amp was overpowering everyone in the first set but he must of turned up because the Splawn was roaring in the 2nd set.
And yes, he lived up to his name, he shredded it upJ. Even turned Tom Petty into shredfest! The band was really tight and everyone was a great musician (with the exception of the other guitarist). So shred, why did he take most of the solos?! No offense dude, but he was pretty sloppy and out of time for the most part and wasn’t doing anything interesting. You are a far better guitarist and you solos were, well..shredding!
Your drummer was sick btw! It of course the music wasn’t my style but there were a few songs I liked in there (Weezer and Killers). D*mn it, I want a QR now:) Good stuff!

hey dude, I made a thread about this on the quick rod forum cuz I didn't know where else to do it..but that's fine! lol... I wanted to thank you AGAIN about commin' out and seein' us man...I was totally shocked...that's why I looked like a deer in headlights when you came up and said hi while we were setting up...LOL... hehe..the volume issue's always funny..sound guy (this time a friend who's in a bon jovi tribute band beleive it or not) ALWAYS tells me my stage volume is too loud..so at first I did turn down..then I had to turn up cause I couldn't hear myself over the damn bassplayer's 500 watts...lol...screw it...I wanna be heard dammit..lol.. we try to do 50/50 on the leads..some of the newer stuff I just let him have cause alotta times I don't like the songs....some I beg for...LOL..depends on the song..and some he's just been playin' forever with his old band so I don't have a problem with that....I couldn't really hear him over my splawn and the bassist's mesa...so I couldn't tell...LOL..but if he was anything like me, he was probably hammered..if ANYTHIng I think I sounded horrible! so I'm shocked you complimented me...maybe it wasn't as bad as I thouight...lmao... about our drummer (our THIRD, by the way)..he came out after the first guy left...I wanted to grab this guy (chris) but we went with another guy for various other reasons (translated, I got outvoted...LMAO)..anywho, THAT guy only lasted a month...I called this dude back up, he didn't have anything goin' on and the rest is history...dude, he's only been playin' 7 years! I couldn't play squat after seven years...lol... anywho, I do apologize if I made an ass of myself infront of you and your girlfriend dude..I was sooo friggin' mangled it wasn't even funny..I always tell meyself I'm not gonna get hammered so I can play clean, but man, did I ever go against THAT this time...LOL....glad you enjoyed, my man! PS--you're very tall by the way...lol I went to see shredder's cover band on Saturday night to hear the Quick Rod in action. Man, that thing sounded killer! Your welcome dude. Glad I got to hear the QR in action!
Yes there were some sound issues going on. I thought your bassist played really well but he as just too loud for the mix. He shouldn’t be the one out front it should be vocals and guitar! There was also some very strange digital clipping/tracking thing on the vocals. What was the deal with that? Does your singer use some effects processing or something. He was a good singer it was just that clipping noise was annoying.
Don’t worry your playing, it was intense to say the least! You did a great job up there and you were having fun so that’s all that counts. I wish I could do haf the sutff you did up there! I just think you should be the lead more than the other dude, but that’s my opinion and I know there always issues between 2 guitarists with those things. That’s one reason we are a 3 piece!
And yeah, I’m in Craigs league, 6’2” and size 13 apefoot!

I agree about the bass bein' too loud...lol..you know how bass is..you don't HAVE to turn it up that loud cause it just swells everywhere beign that it's non directional..I shoulda told him to turn down..he wasn't going direct or miced, but it was still too loud! at one point he was jokin' around about givin me all the leads, but I don't want the responsibility...LMAO... three peice has its advantages..less opinions in the mix....hahahah....

I do!... did you guys make-out between sets? BWWHAHAHAA... LMAO!!!! That's cool that you guys met. Shredder if your bass player is too loud do what I do. Tell him "Turn the F#$@ down now!" It works everytime. I think if I ever made it to one of Shredder's gigs or he to one of mine, we wouldn't even talk about our amps. We'd be sitting at the bottle of a beer quoting movies. ;D
