We are going to a national talent contest in Franklin Tn. Leaving tomorrow morning. Our local news channel came to our last practice on monday and interviewed some of us and got some live video. Well, i think out of 25 bands, i saw maybe one other splawn, but i wasn't sure since none of the bands could watch other bands play.
My band didn't even come close to winning. We just started about 6 months ago.
Pretty much what we were told was that if you don't have a cd out and aren't playing at least 100 shows a year, you don't have a shot at winning.
It's ok, our 8 minutes of stage time was great and we got to see how the industry works.
For once im glad we weren't ready...
BTW, my QR sounded great. I just absolutely hate it when im doing my guitar solo and the camera man waits until the tail end of it to put the camera on me.

I never liked the botb thing anyway . As far as the cameraman goes maybe you just have a face for radio ;D .J/K |

Yeah, im really glad it went the way it did. We weren't ready for a big win like that. Too much pressure right now. One guy that has a consulting firm said that it's best to go independent and let the labels come to you. Label wants an excellent cd out w/ 100 or more shows a year. We just got started so that didn't happen.
We really did get our eyes opened to the music industry.
Yeah, my face is really radio friendly. The songs are a little too heavy for contemporary christian rock. Oh yeah, we even had some ripping solos in our songs. Maybe that's what did it...
NONE of the bands that made top 5 are even close to hard and heavy. Think of Relient K and Fall out boy kind of stuff. One band sounded like casting crowns.
