I like bands like blink-182,sum 41,weezer, and offspring. So like a modern crunch but i also want to play stuff like Van Halen , metallica ,iron maiden and more 80's rock. Which speakers should i get? It will be a 4 by 12 cabinet.

Hi Nick, welcome to the board. For the first bands you named, blink 182, sum41, etc. I would actually reccomend no speakers at all. Most likely, nobody wants to hear that stuff but you. I would consider a good pair of headphones. ;D Seriously though, this topic has come up so many times and it is all so subjective as to what sounds good to each player, it's hard to give a definitive answer. I would suggest calling Splawn and talking to Scott and telling him what you are looking for. He has spent more time with his amps than anybody and I am sure he could get you where you want to be. Another good source is Josh Sage at Rebel Amps. He has tried just about any speaker set-up you could think of and he is always happy offer some advice. Good luck, and please stop playing bands with numbers in the name, and that includes matchbox 20.

Good info Motor... If you have a Splawn, go with the Splawn Emi's...man that is a match made in heaven. Another amp, it's a personal choice as to what you like. See what those bands above use, and that will give you an idea.

Most of those bands either rock those mesa cabinets with vintage 30s in then or the marshalls with the 75's in them. So I would say that the celestions would probably be the way to go there man. The vintage 30s will give you a sound right in the same realm as what you are looking for I believe. -Brent

I haven't actually heard them, but I can tell you what is SAID about the bb/sb and gov/man-o:
The bb/sb will produce a slightly bigger low-end and overall is a little more celestion like. The gov/man-o creates a slightly tighter low-end with a bit less "harshness" (warmth) on the top end. But the governors are known to sometimes suffer from cone-cry. (Inside joke....well, not really.....)
