Hey Guys; I'm back after a bit of a hiatus. Just bought a Splawn modded plexi (I really liked my old Splawn modded JMP), and a new Les Paul 59 reissue, so I am rarin' to go. I tried going the Diezel route for a while; nice amps but not for me-not sweet or vintage enough. Sold those and now I am back to Splawn-probably will get a Quickrod eventually. Can't wait for the amp to get here next Friday-can't wait for my return to tone either. BTW, could never get Frank Hannon interested in getting a Splawn; right now he is having a love affair with Marshall's-JCM 900's and their Vintage/Modern--yuck! Anyway, it's nice to be back.

Welcome back RockerJT. Has Franks played thru a Splawn or Mod? Maybe that will spark his interest.

JCM 900's are the worst marshalls ever made +1.. I thought that was common knowledge.

;D RockerJt , You were NEVER OUT. There is NO OUT. ;D What's up Bro? Not much. Always knew I'd get a Splawn-I really liked the Diezel Einstein, but really disliked the Herbert and VH4-no sweetness to it, just a hard edge. I got a modded Marshall by Splawn, and it should be here Friday-can't wait. Picking up a new 59 reissue Les Paul tomorrow (got rid of my 57 custom reissue), so I am a happy camper. I may put an order in for a Quickrod, depending on how much I can do with just the two overdrive sounds on this amp (and using my fulltone to augment it here and there). As far as Frank goes, who knows. I haven't talked to him hardly at all in several months-he is hella busy with the tour, which is going well. They are gearing up songs for a new studio album too, and supposedly they will begin recording sometime in December. He got rid of all his Hiwatts and Modern Vintage amps and fell in love with JCM900's (gag). Don't ask me why-those things have no output-I think they suck. They are using Marshall Vintage/Moderns while on the European tour, as Marshall is providing their backiine-again, a good idea for an amp on Marshall's part, but a poor execution-those amps are not that good either. Once things settle down (before they start recording), I am going to head over to their rehearsal space and have him take a listen. Personally, I think Dave would be more open to it at this point. Tommy was always the one who had good tone in that band anyway. Oh well, good to be back and thanks for the welcome. Glad to hear Scott is getting his props from the guitar world finally. JT

I can't believe Frank got rid of the Modern Vintage stuff. I saw them in concert w/ Frank using the Modern Vintage Tonemonster and it rocked. That amp sounded so cool!

Yeah, better than a Hiwatt and way better than a JCM900. I had a few of the cabs from his amps and they were nicely built. mostly with greenback speakers. Pretty sweet with my old Splawn Marshall.

What did he use on the Real to Reel cds? I just got the new one. Do You Feel Like We Do and Beer Drinkers And Hellraisers both sound killer.

Dave was using a Plexi and a Slash Marshall. They both used some borrowed amps from Sonic Ranch (Fenders and old Marshalls mostly), and some borrowed vintage cabs too, and Frank used a real Leslie on a couple of things.

BTW, I like Hand Me Down world, and I thought they sounded great on Walk Away (Dave had awesome tone on that one) as well as Seasons Of Wither-my fav Aerosmith song ever, and they had to cover it. Now I'll never be able to cover it at local shows without being a Tesla copycat.
