Hello everybody My name is Joel and I play guitar for Collective Soul. I check this forum every once in awhile but this is the first time I've posted. I just wanted to assure everybody that there's no "conspiracy" going on with the absence of Splawn signage on TV or whatever. We have no control of what the cameraman wants the shot to look like. As far as the web stuff goes, the truth is we just revamped our website and I don't think anyone thought of listing what gear we use. We just released a new record called "Afterwords" and of course I thanked Scott at Splawn amplification in the booklet. I first talked to Scott about a year and a half ago when my main Marshall went down. I was in a semi-frantic state because we were going to tour Europe in a few days. He was cool as Christmas and got me hooked up immediately with a Quickrod that has since become my number one amp. I took it to Europe only a few days after receiving it and it sounded and performed perfectly. I love his amps and I do intend to get a couple more. Right now I use a Marshall DSL only to power the other half of my stereo rig but I would love to "represent" a full Splawn rig. I actually get a lot of compliments on my live tone and so when someone asks I always tell'em "It's the Splawn dude".-Joel

It great to see professional bands touring with Splawns on stage. If it's not too much trouble could you post a pic or a brief explanation of your live rig? I'd be interested in seeing what you run. I always liked Collective Soul.

Ok, here we go. For this tour I have put together a pretty cool rig that is capable of doing a lot of stuff. Basically what I'm running is this: MJ Mirage GTR thru ErnieBall Volume pedal Digitech Wammy pedal Morley Bad Horsie Wah pedal Thru: GCX switcher system with these pedals in the loops: Keeley compressor Boss Autowah Boss OC-2 octave Tubescreamer(not used right now) Then one of loops feed off into: Rocktron Replifex thru Line 6 (green) rackmount delay stereo out of delay into: 2 Vox AC30 custom classics The next GCX loop feeds off into: The input of a Splawn Quickrod head The "send" out of the head into: Rocktron Replifex stereo out of Replifex into: the "returns" of the Splawn and a Marshall DSL50 both heads power greenback-loaded 4x12 cabs in a true stereo configuration.
So what it boils down to is the Splawn for dirty stuff thru the 4x12s and the VoxAC30s for clean stuff all in stereo. It's essentially two rigs controlled with GCX switcher.
I can't seem to figure out how to post pictures. Anyone care to share some knowledge with me?-Joel

I think the pics need to be hosted Joel. Try photobucket, or www.freeshare.us - then use the pic url goes here[/img] tags. Unless there is an easier way I don't know of. That's what I do.

I always said that if I was on tour I would use the Splawn for the dirt and an AC-30 for cleans. I played a '69 AC-30TB in guitar center a few months ago and I fell in love with it. Beautiful sounding cleans! Which Boss Autowah are you using, the TW-2? Any reason for choosing that specific one? Like scoobrock said, if you want to post pics then you need to host them on another site. I use Imageshack because you don't need an account. Just copy the direct link code and paste it in the image code (the picture frame looking button) on this site.

Here's a few pics of the rig I'm running for this tour. I can't remember the model number of the autowah but it's the one with "humanizer" controls where you can set the vowel sounds and sweep etc...-Joel [/img]http://profile.imageshack.us/user/jkosche/

Sweet looking, by the way! You are talking about the Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah I believe. That's a little different than an auto wah in that it uses vocal qualities instead of just a wah frequency filter, alomost like talk box. Pretty cool.
