my project is actually on the evolution of guitar amplifcation and it's stylistic effects on genres of popular music, the questionare was just to do with a technical part of the assignment.. but yea most people out of the 30+ have said digital isn't the future althought a fair few have.. and nobody selected anything other than tube as there first choice of amp.

you guys really think that in the future they won't be able to make a modeler that sounds exactly like tubes?....whether it's 2 years from now or 2000 years...it'll happen...

Maybe so.Hell the modelers now SOUND great and can fool the most discriminate tube connoisseur. Listening only.Perceived tone. You said "sounds exactly like".
The feel and dynamics of a tube amp will never be duplicated, and if it is, I want no part of it 'cause it will be of some mental sensory manipulation bullsh!t or some kind of other hawgwash.
Line 6 and many other digital modelers sound great recorded, but sucks from a feel/dynamic/reaction standpoint. How about volume dynamics and the way a good amp responds to touch ,feel,volume,etc...not to mention pedals.
I have never had spit drooling from my mouth playing solid state or digital............................. now them tube amps..................Oh yeah ;D
