Groove tube to me over rated.high price with bad tube rating.
just a name on outsource tubes. now who wants to pay $180. for a quad of output tubes when you can buy em' around $70.00 a quad. If you got a tax number you can get them @ wholesale through Companies like CE Dist.
Otherwise get em cheaper thru Scott, Eurotube or Tube Depot.

;D 1+ for tube depot. I always ask for Brian and I am never dissappointed. Quick delivery, 1 or 2 days. The guy is smart beyond wise on tubes and what your after. He speaks the language of adjectives. So you always end up happy. ;D

I always call scott, send me a set.. bla bla.. they arrive.. and match what I have. I think I am up to 16 spare mullard tubes... ya its a fetish!
if I see groove tubes in an amp, I remove them and install JJ's or wing-C-'s everyone has always like the amp better without the groovetubes. I then take the GT and bust it open.. and rip the guts.. lol.. then file 13.
I also dont like the tube ratings they use..

Scott could tell you. But everyamp he put tube in has different ma. The Mullard I got are rated @ 42 ma. KT77 before that was 53 ma. Higher the MA the hotter( more easy to get tube saturation which mean about 5% less tube life) Lower the ma longer the tube life & more head room. But you can try different ma for defferent tones. even if you use the same ma but still you might want to rebias. after a while your tubes ma will varied after awhile. which why you need to rebias for optimum perforamce in the studio or the road.

A buddy of mine's dad has been hording up tubes for 30 years. I remembered all this when I bought my QR about 2 months ago. I ask my friend if he knew of any style of tube his dad had.
I then made a list of tubes I got off of tubedepot and gave them to him. He was to take the list to his dad who lived in another state, and check it out.
I am just waiting on his phone call,. would be nice if he had Genelex and the old Mullards ;D
He has a garage full of tubes ,man! The gov. factory close its doors down in mid 80s and threw all these tube to the trash. He back his truck up to the dumpster and loaded up. Still in their original boxes.
Now I don't want to get my hopes up,and I don't know a lot on tubes. But it would be nice!
