I'm not sure where else to post this on this forum so I'll try here. I have a rare Splawn modded Sovtek head #3 of 4 from 07/98 that has snakeskin covering. I would like to know if anybody has any info on this head or the sovtek mods? I really love it but it's single channel. Thanks!

I first met Scott around early 2000 and heard he had some ok mods. But when I heard his band play, he was using a White modded Sovtek, it floored me. It was the absolute best live guitar sound I'd ever heard. In fact, my wife said..."Now that is how a guitar is suppose to sound." She was right. From what I understand the power section on this amp is very similar to the power section on a Marshall Plexi/JCM800. At the time I think his mod only really touched the pre-amp...so it was fairly easy to make these Sovteks a beast. You should give Scott a call to find out the details on this amp. He is a super guy to talk to eventhough I'm sure he's very busy these days. I'm sure he'd get a kick out of know that his Sovtek mods are still kicking around out there. Patrick

Thanks for the info. Yeah, this thing sounds absolutely amazing! It's the only amp I own that I just keep going back to no matter what else I try. I wish it had 2 channels so I could boost for leads, but it's still the best sounding amp I've ever heard.
