This came from Blabbermouth...
GODSMACK have entered a studio to begin recording the follow-up to 2003's "Faceless" album. "The band began writing while on the road in 2004 and reconvened after the Rockin' the Corps show in California on April Fool's Day," reads a posting on the group's web site. "They chose to finish writing at home, much unlike their 2002 move to Miami, by setting up a rehearsal space in the Boston area. Days were spent at the studio and nights were spent at home, the perfect balance that most of us take for granted. Things are definitely moving forward and on schedule but they still have a long way to go. Therefore a release date has not been established, but a ballpark of early-to-mid-2006 is the target."
As Tony Rombola recently purchased a QR, hopefully we wil eventually have a pro recording which showcases some of its tones...

apparently the albums slightly bluesy and after the marshally type tones instead of the big mesa tones, probably why he choose the QR over the PM, apparently aswell the main stuff on the album is a Plexi, and he's using the QR live..

Be watching in early 2007 for Another Animal. The band features Tony, Shannon, and Robbie from Godsmack along with the vocalist from Ugly Kid Joe. On the album Tony Plays McNaught Guitars through Splawn amps exclusively!

We got the chance to hear the entire cd when we picked Tony up at Verizon ampetheater. He wanted to come out to the shop and pick out some woods for his next guitar. We had it cranked up in the car the whole way. Another Animal is 3/4 of the band Godsmack, so, it still has some elements of that in it. The vocalist is a bit different than Sully though. His melodies remind me more of Alice in Chains than Godsmack. Godsmack is Sully's baby and he makes the final decisions. Another Animal gives the guys a chance to stretch out and show off more of thier playing and chops. Shannon Larkin is a MONSTER drummer.

That sound cool. How did the CD sound? I bet the Quick Rod really kicked some butt? Does Tony get a chance to solo/ shred a little bit more?

Tony does solo more on the Another Animal album, but, I don't think he's a "shredder" by the 80's definition. When I think shred, I think YJM, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, Tony Macalpine....those guys. Tony's solo style is much more blues based. Having said that, it could just be my point of reference. I've heard guys say that Stevie Ray Vaughn "shreds", and maybe he does. When I here that someone shreds, I'm thinking Shrapnel Records. ;D

Oh yeah! It was really cool to be there when they were setting up for the concert last month. Tony walked us through his rig and around the stage so we could check out how he was running his gear. The guitar techs were going on and on about the combination of the McNaughts and the Splawn amp. I've known Scott since school days, and David's been my best friend for the last 13 years, it was hard not to smile from ear to ear. ...and then the show started!! Tony hit the first chord and it felt like my face had been pushed to the back of my head!!!! AWESOME!!!
