Mesa Mark IV

I've played a Mark III and Mark IV..to me, they're two of the best amps that mesa makes...I've spent more time with the Mark III..it's definetly a metal type of amp...pretty fluid...tons of options..almost TOO many options..I like simple..but it does sound good...you can get Mark IIIs on evilbay for like 700 bucks or so...

admittedly, I didn't spend enough time with the IV to give a true impression of it, but I heard people playin' through it at an ampfest and it was nice

I'd say they're both definetly metal amps

at the end of the day, I still take my QR over both of them, BUT if I had to have a second amp (or if I could afford one..lol), I'd probably get a Mark III

Mark IV IIc+ I think? Yeah spent some time with those. I personally think they are a little harsh sounding.. even the guys who supposedly got great tone out of them like Sykes etc, really when you listen to it, it wasn't very warm. I like the Mark IV better when Mike Soldano called it a SLO.. A Much better version of that type of sound. You can also get a similar sound out of a 5150... which is another amp i've owned.

But since you have a Splawn, why bother. You'll just be dissappointed.

I like the Mark IV a lot one of the best live amps I have heard. Can't quite dial it in myself though. I think a lot of it has to do with the c-90 in the combo. However, no experience w/ the mk3 and the SLO is a godsend, just a diff flavor than the splawns. All great amps tho!

isn't the C-90 similar to the CL 80?
