yeah videos of him using them at some clinic... so you disagree w/ craig in that aldrich has heavenly tone? didn't I say as much? lol... yeah, I think he's got good tone..I'd still like to hear one on a stage or in the bedroom without a 50K watt PA system though..lol... to me, that's the true test of any amp..how good you can get it to sound at home... that's not a knock on your soon to be arriving cameron or any other amp or anything like that... i'd always wanted to check out a cameron and when i saw he was doing 3 channel mods i was like...sold! he's a super nice guy also and will talk to you for hours about gear

My Cameron should be here next week. Dirty Craig- I'm not dissing Splawn,I love my Splawns! This thread started as a Fender 5150 III and now we are talking about the Camerons.........wow.I think it's ok. I just love Marshalls and esp. modded ones ala Splawn. And the Camerons have been getting my attention alot lately. I may be singing your song about the Cameron next week..who knows. Vom- what mods did you get,or better yet, what do you know about his different ones? Axemane

Here is mine: Had Mark Cameron mod this 59 reissue for "Jose Arredondo" specs. Cameron did the Van Halen "thang" as well as the following: 1. FX loop; 2. Depth control (back panel) - lows/deep control; 3. Frequency control (back panel) - controls pwr amp voicing; 4. Created 2 separate channels - "volume 1" (controls the "Jose Low" volume) and "volume 2" (controls the "Jose High" volume); 5. Additional "gain stage" when you pull the volume 2 knob out (volume 2 on steroids); 6. Gain control knob inserted where the normal Ch2 "hi" input goes - controls the gain for both volume 2 and steroid volume 2; 7. 3 way bright switch (front panel) - controls bright caps 8. Additional 3 position switch for volume 2 gain stage (back panel) 9. 2 way dark switch for more bass (back panel)

Absolutely.
I will be checking it out in between shows. Then when I get some time I will use it at rehearsal and maybe a show...who knows?
And I will be doing an amp shootout with the Cameron,my Splawn QR and Splawn modded plexi.Marshall heaven!

the 5150III head got me thinking about ordering another quickrod head and sticking different preamp tubes in it to get the range of a 5150 but the tone of splawn...anyways good luck with the cameron, I had one, sold it, bought a splawn, never been happier...

Man, 3rd gear will get the 5150 range no problem. But, something tells me that the tone of the 5150 III will be a lot different than the other 5150s. The Peavey stuff had that mid range thing that was kind of crappy. It was that mid range sound that all Peavey guitar amps have. Now, Fender will be different. Still not as good as a Quick Rod!
