I bought a keeley compressor. I put it off for such a long time, thinking , naw I dont really need one of those. but, now I wonder why I never tried one. I had the rackmount compressors a 3630 or something like that years ago that just didnt work out so well, and the rack compressors for the PA, the keeley compressor on the splawn really sings now. another keeper.
Anyone else have one?

Nice, let me know how it works out. I have been eyeing a Barber Tone Press for a long time but I wonder if I will like a compressor. I don't like the tone to get squashed but I would love to add some sustain. The Barber is supossedly good at that because there is a blend knob to ix in your original signal. I've heard good thyings about the Keeley as well.

what exactly does a compressor do...?i'm stoooopid it squashes the signal, basically.... I think the splawn compresses enough on its own, personally.....

I agree the spawn does great at the compressed stuff already!
Dont take a compressor and think its a 100% always used on unit. thats a approach I think is limited. You can set the compression levels.. but the compressor, it can not only compress your signal. but, also brings up weaker signals to be present with the hot signals. its not something you would use full time, its for those passages that maybe backed off on a clean channel that need a little extra help getting up there for balance or a compressed thing, or on a lead that you want to carry that note for a week. its a tool some people over use, or dont use at all. like other effects, use it when its needed. ;-) it does have a switch on/off button!

The best time (in my opinion) for a compressor is for chicken pickin. A dd3 with slap back, a CS-2 Compressor and a good deluxe reverb is unstoppable for that type gig.

I have one too.. great compressor, arguably the best out there. I used it twice and now its collecting dust with all the other pedals I don't use.. LMAO.
Anyone want it? I paid $180 for it.. make me an offer.
