well...i bought a g-system for the splawn recently...figured i can return it within 45 days if i don't like it...it's sitting in my basement still in the box (got it 3 days ago)...between work/shows/rehearsals i haven't had the time to try it out yet...
full report coming when i run it through it's paces...

what didn't you like about it? didn't do what you wanted it to? didn't sound good enough to warrant the price tag??? explain!! lol HAHA...well, let me first say that the unit looks very well made...and it's really cool...you step on one of the switches and a large circle underneath the switch lites up to show you that it's activated...really cool... i just found i like the sound of the splwan much better without it...sounded much better running a little reverb from the alesis... granted i only spent about 1.5 hours w/ it...but i wasn't really floored by it and the huge price tag didn't help either...what worked pretty cool is that the different effect loops allowed you to add/subtract different stomp boxes from the patches...but that doesn't justify the huge price...i could buy another splawn or have cameron mod a marshall for me... |

lol..yeah, that's true..those things are WAYYYY expensive!!!
for that much money it SHOULD blow you away right off the bat!
oh well...no harm, no foul...nothing lost, nothing gained...and various other cliches that happen to fit the situation =D

this isn't to say that the unit wouldn't be perfect for someone else...
i just like the sound of my old setup...
actually, the funny thing is i think i found a really nice sound w/ the splawn now...and all i did was turn down the mids...

where were you running them before? I've been goign through alot of different iterations of tweaking with the QR, gettin' all kinds of sounds I'm happy with..I'm actually using second gear now beleive it or not...just h ad to roll off the bass =)

ohhhh....yeah, you don't wanna dime them mids! gain is another story..muahahhaha  right now I'm runnin' second gear, OD2..gain at around 3:00 or so, bass at 10:30 and mids at about 1:30 (I find lower bass and higher mids on gear two suits me more....I leave bass higher on third and first gears and mids at noon) and everything else at n oon |
