heheh...can file me under the VERY uncool category...LOL... I don't think you can beat an older ESP as far as production guitars go...playabilty, sound, etc, etc...only neck I'm comfy on! as far as my LTD goes..put it do you this way...the trem felt like it was plastic and was gonna fall off at any moment, the knobs were all loose (sure, they can be tightened, but c'mon!! first impressions and all) and whatever they finished the fretboard with used to stain my fingers...WTF oh yeah, it sounded like poop too =) "VERY uncool"...LMAO... I'll have to make that one of the choices next time. LOL You've certainly got good reason to not like the ltds. The fretboard actually stained your fingers....wow....that's bad. Well, given the duncan pickup and floyd bridge, this one almost HAS to be an improvement over the one you had, but based on your experience, I would still question its quality.

that guitar is WAY SUPER COOL.... yeah, it's expensive but...as far as cool factor, that's hard to beat.... Thanks for participating Vom. I think it's kinda' cool too, but I'm real anal about symmetry and stuff. I would like it better if the graphic had a regular, evenly spaced, pattern....you know....kind of like Randy's polka dots. I'm sure it's a fine guitar, but I would have a hard time paying that much for a Japanese (I think) guitar. Then again, I don't think twice when it comes to the purchase of a Japanese auto.

Wow, so you've pined after that thing for almost two decades now. hahaha You may as well go ahead and get John Suhr to build you one with that graphic. ;D You're jeans are gettin' tight just thinkin' about that, aren't they? LOL!!!

Wow, so you've pined after that thing for almost two decades now. hahaha You may as well go ahead and get John Suhr to build you one with that graphic. ;D You're jeans are gettin' tight just thinkin' about that, aren't they? Speaking of ESPs and graphics, I saw Atreyu on Jimmy Kimmel last night and one of those guys was playing an explorer shaped ESP. I didn't really care for the guitar itself, but it had a blood-spattered paint job that I thought looked really cool.

Oh well, I'm gettin' older, and my memory ain't what it used to be. If I could find one of those today I'd HAVE to buy it.

Now Michael Wilton was not too bad of a guitarist, but a guy I alway felt deserved a signature axe, Chris DeGarmo. To me, he is the meaning of great song writting. Guy could solo up a storm too. I was & still am a queensryche fan, but it aint the same story any more since DeGarmo left again. -Brent

So...I think I can comment on this thread...being fairly qualified on a couple of accounts... 1. A big QR fan...(that's QueensRyche..although the QuickRod is also growing on me ).. 2. and probably more importantly, I walked into Bill's Music in Maryland a few weeks ago...and to my surprise...there's Michael Wilton...holding a "clinic". The clinic really consisted of him showing some of his favorite exercises...and playing some QR songs with backing tracks - which...actually was pretty cool - since I haven't had a chance to see them in concert. He was playing his Custom Signature ESP basically into 2 stomp boxes and then into one of the shops TSLs. So - First my vote on the guitar - Very cool. I haven't picked on up...so I really can't comment on it's playability...but it looks killer - especially the Customs with the heavy birdseye on the neck - sounded great to me through that Marshall - I think the pickups are slightly different between the Custom Shop and the Korean Sig - not certain. Haven't seen it in the dark...but the glow in the dark graphic is cool. I have to admit - I want one...although...I have NEVER played an ESP that I liked - of course...it's hard to find ESPs with unfinished necks to which I am definitely partial. His playing. Ok - so...yeah...there are some disparaging remarks towards his playing in this thread - and yeah...fundamentally - Craig is probably better than Wilton. Butttt....one thing I took away from his little "clinic"...was ...you really saw what a lifetime of practice and performance could yield...if you worked at it. I mean - he doesn't strike you as a guy who was naturally gifted at the guitar - I could be wrong...but you know what I mean... Guys like Vai...etc...are just phenoms...and you can see how natural it is for them. Wilton - looked like a guy who had worked very hard...with less natural talent - but was good...quite good. His right hand was rock solid...I mean...metronome, jackhammer tight.... And he played some interesting things... nothing mindblowing...but he was rock solid. There's gotta be something said for that... And...he's in QueensRyche...so that's a solid trump card...if nothing else. Anyway...just my 2cents... I like the guitar...
