I played my Fri gig with my Jackson strung with EB's, they still sound great today even. The last EB's I gigged with was totally dead at the end of the night. I think they were dead after the first set even. Crazy.

Which is why I like non-locking-floating trem guitars I like the idea of those, but a) I've never had one that DIDN't go outta tune constantly (my petrucci was infamous for that) and b) I just can't get comfy on those fixed bridges...I dig fine tuners as well

I betcha anything it's not bad strings. Just my gut feeling. Unless of course they sound dead acoustically. FWIW I use EB's, I like 'em. I have noticed however that sometimes they last for 2 nights or even more and still sound good, sometimes they're completey dead after 1 night. So maybe there's your consistency issue there, but while they lasted they sounded pretty good. I like D'Addairios too - I have a set on my PRS right now that I did 2 full nights (4 hours apiece) and they still sound pretty good. I think either: - you're strings are acoustically DOA out of the box - If your strings are alive acoustically, your pickup or electronics somewhere in the chain have something going on all of a sudden - Or you're just hearing things differently at the moment, and obsessing on it. In fact, let's make this interesting. Let's make bets. I'll bet Shred's pickup is fine, and after chasing gremlins for awhile he finds an unexpected part is zapping his mojo. I was going to say he's going to find a bad tube somewhere, but I'm SURE he's smart enough to have a/b'd other guitars throught he exact same rig, right? Right? ?? Slap that BBQ on an ohm meter, I wanna know. no, I find the best way to see if there's a problem with my amp or one of my guitars is to unplug the cabinet...that gives me the truest representation of what the amp sounds like with the guitar straight in and no coloration from the speakers! duh, of course I a/b'd other guitars....LOL....wiseazz anywho, sounded good at my gigs friday and saturday..so it was a low volume issue... wish i had some type of recording room in the basement..where I could just run the amp full out all the time and listen to it on studio monitors or something....

Thats where a isolation cab comes in!!! works great.. good tone into mixer, head phones.. jam all night.. wake no one.. tubes get toasty.. you get the splawn killer amp sound.. and its not too expensive compared to all the bucks we spend on gear. yes a change in settings for tone will happen.. but thats to be expected.
SOAP{BOX~ Low volume issues.. man.. as much as I read about using low volumes with a 100 watt splawn amp on this forum.. its starting to freak me out.. sorry... but get a practice amp or a Isolation cab.. running a killer monster splawn at a half a watt or two just freaks me out !!! STOP IT! LMAO... its like buying a dragster and idling to the grocery store!! IT AINT RIGHT!
