Hey guys! Anyone here try out one of those overpriced Zakk Wylde Camo Les Pauls? I am wondering if they are really awesome? The unfinished maple neck would almost be worth it! I also noticed that Gibson just released the new John Sykes Les Paul.

No one has ever tried on of these out? Probably to expensive to pick up in a music store! LOL I guess that I don't get how that guitar could cost $4000? I can see $3000 at the most.

I just don't get how they would expect to sell guitars that are that much overpriced? Its insane. My friend has a 2003 57 Les Paul. The thing is awesome. But, he got it off of a previous owner for a good price......otherwise he would have paid a lot for it!

You think that's bad. Did you see that new hendrix flying V LTD they just put out? Its a standard 67 reissue V with a stupid physcodelic paintjob and a trem that probably doesn't even stay in tune. They supposedly made only 300 and the retail on them is $8000... Can you believe that crap. And they sold out! People really need their heads examined! I found out my friend bought one to try and flip on ebay. I can't even imagine paying $8000 let alone more. For that much I'd buy a vintage strat or a few custom shop pieces.

That flying V is ugly to boot! $8,000 for a brand new guitar. Just crazy!

Gibsons....I'd rather buy an epiphone....thats why Gibson sue's everybody because...other companies build a much better guitar of Gibson design at much less money...Can't remember the last time anybody did'nt have to spend another $500.00 to make their "new" Les Paul playable...garbage!!! Expensive Garbage!!

I don't know, I love my Les Paul Studio and I don't think I over paid for it. It's my #1 guitar and totally stock, except the Grover tuners. The only thing it needs is a new nut but that's not bad after almost 11 years of abuse!
FWIW, I LOVE that Flying V!! I think the paint job and the trem looks awesome. I was looking into getting one but after hearing that price, fuggetaboutit!!
Everytime I try a new brand other than Gibson or Fender I just don't like the feel of it. The necks always feel cheap to me for some reason. Even a PRS just doesn't have the vibe when I play them. I don't know I guess I am used to the classic design and anything modern feels uncomfortable to me.

See, if the price was right I would get a new Les Paul. Mainly that Zakk Wylde Camo one. Now, Epiphone I am not sure about. Someone said they were great guitars, and other said they were cheap as Ibanez and Jackson. So I don't know who to believe? I you guys compared the build quality of an Epiphone NOW to a Gibson Les Paul NOW what would you say?

I mean, I would think that the electronics and the hardware could be gutted and replaced on an Epiphone and then it could stand up to a Gibson? It all comes down too the quality of the woods being used. If the mahogony and maple used on the Epiphones were cheap then I could see it not being worth it.

Not sure about the epiphones. They definitely seem more reasonbly priced but as you said if the wood quality is less than its not worth it. I certainly have seen some pretty ones for cheap though. As long as you stick to the regular LP's and not any custom deals then I think the price is tolerable.

Rich Ward has the prototype for that series and its a good guitar but thats about it. Its just a great les paul.... Theres nothing wrong with it its just that the only "custom shop" thing about it is the paint..... Im a Les Paul type guy even though I play bass (I know admitance is the step to recovery) but look around.... So the tones no diff than any other higher end LP that i can tell. Just play a guitar that makes you WANT to play it.

I just thought the Zakk one was cool...........just not the price. The unfinished maple neck would be really cool. I really don't like the feeling of Les Pauls because there necks have a finish. Hey Brian.......what was the Les Paul that Rich brought in to the shop when he picked up his Pro Mod? I remember you telling me that it was really thick sounding?

Sureits nice to have all the pretty options like binding and mother-of-pearl inlay, yada yada, but in the end someones $4000 Custom LP won't sound any better than my basic Studio LP.

I got a '71 LP Deluxe that sounds PHAT. theres no comparison between the old ones and new ones.. Honestly for $4000.00 you could by a REALLY nice old Gibson LP. I would NEVER pay $4000.00 a new Gibson. At least an older one it will go up in value and you can't lose money.
