Got the Herbert yesterday and so far so good..It's a very good amp and layed out so it really makes sense..especially the midi capability...no tap dancing whatsoever..3 effects loops 1 parallel 2 series with 1 being switchable in and out. I have'nt had much time to dial it in yet but what I have tweaked with sounds real good but I do believe a lube and oil change is in order (tubes and bias) Gonna swap out the EL34's and go with some 6L6's...My VH4 was sporting tose and I seem to prefer them over the EL34's.....more to follow

I played a herbie..
and while I thought channel four sounded pretty good, I'd have to be seriously medicated before even considering spending that much on an amp =D

What you REALLY need is a Dumble. Everyone should have one of these. Although it's tough to find an extra $14,000 layin round the house to purchase one. ;D

Yeah there's only a handful of people who own them. EJ, Santana, Jackson Browne and Robben Ford are a few who do. Howard Dumble is kind of a recluse. Fuchs amps get close to what the Dumble sounds like. But then again they're a mere $3,000 or up. Crazy man! Just Crazy!!!

Yeah if you're ordering two of them just put another 3 down for me. What the hell eh? Just crazy man. God Bless Scot Splawn for keeping a boutique amp under the 2k range.

Hey TJ, If you can find a Dumble for $14k you got yourself a bargain!! I have seen them go for $20k and up! I know SRV had one that he used to record with alot. It was supposedly his favorite.
Its a cork sniffer's dream:) Sounds like a joke to me!

Its a cork sniffer's dream:) Sounds like a joke to me! $20,000 that's just crazy! The crazy thing about them is if you could afford one then you have to buy some thing called a "Dumbleator" to run with it to get the most out of the amp. That costs additional money. Just nuts man. Thanks but I'll stick with Splawn. If you listen to SRV "Texas Flood" was done using Jackson Browne's Dumble. I think "Live at the El Mocambo" is some of his best tone. There was no Dumble to be found on that stage. It was all blackface fenders + Tubescreamer tone. Better tone for a lot less money.
