...and it actually works. ;D I originally finished it with a metallic candy apple red paint job complete with a cool lunar/moon graphic. The problem was that the paint I used was NOT durable and it chipped super quickly, so I refinished it last night. As you can see, it has depth, rate, and feedback control pots. One toggle switch lets you choose between phase "90" or "45", the other between the standard "script" mode or "univibe". (It's also true bypass.)

nOfx, I bought a kit from "Build Your Own Clone"...but there were a few characteristics that I didn't like. I emailed the owner (Keith, from Big Tone), and we changed a few resistors to better suit what I was after.
Hacksaw, it sounds really nice...I don't notice any change in tone other than the effect itself. I prefer using the "90" switch on "vibe" as it sounds a little more watery to me. I'm not one to use a lot of effects, but this is actually pretty cool...I use it on a few intros to songs.
Did you get yours together yet?

Hacksaw, I had a problem with my original board...Keith sent me a new one and I sourced a bunch of parts. I'd suggest building the kit as is, and if you're unhappy with it we can talk.

That looks awesome. I like the option of having vibe or phaser, real cool. I'm going to replace my JIm Dunlop univibe someday with something true bypass. The Dunlop just sounds too thin for me.

I haven't finished my phaser, I need Mr Spock and Dr McCoy to help out....maybe Scotty and Mr Sulu can add advice? dang thing is stuck on 'stun'....I want it to 'kill'. ;D I was going to do some type of graphic relating to Star Trek, but I'd hate to venture into trekkie land. (Plus, I didn't want to deal with any patent BS either, which is another reason I killed the moon/lunar graphic too.) The "hammered" paint finish is pretty cool stuff, very thick and durable. A couple of points to consider (if anyone wants to finish their pedal in that paint)... DO NOT CLEAR COAT IT WHEN YOU'RE DONE!! The clear coat will erode the paint and mess up your work. You can manipulate the severity of the hammer look by how you apply the paint. (I'd go light first, that stuff tricks you as the effect doesn't appear until it starts to dry.)

How does this phaser sound? I'm really getting tired of the MXR taking off half my d@mn treble on the low strings,, its SOOOOO annoying.

Craig, there are a lot of great tones to be had in this box...as well as some not so great ones, depending on your settings. The feedback control is VERY subtle, but I would say it sounds like someone put a sheet over your cab (not a blanket) in the extreme left position, and it gets pretty ice pickish in the extreme right position. If you opt for the 18k resistor for that control, you won't be able to turn the F.Back knob past 3 o'clock or it makes a strange noise. (That doesn't happen in the "45" mode.)The depth and rate controls are really cool, you can get pretty creative with them. The circuit board is pretty sensitive and a lot of people complained that they had problems with the feedback mod, so if you want this pedal, you'll probably have to email Keith (the owner of the company) and make a special request. Some of the traces are REALLY close to each other and if you inadvertantly heat a solder joint too much, some stray solder will touch something you don't want it to. Troubleshooting that is a pain in the arse!!! There seems to be a new batch of boards which differ slightly from the instructions...that threw a lot of people off (myself included). I finally figured out what I did, and had Keith send me a new board, I then sourced the parts myself and started over...worked like a champ.
