I just ordered a Audix i5 from Scott, He states its like the Audix D3 they dont make anymore. He also said, he used the i5 for recording the clip he did on the splawn site.
What do you guys use? and what do you port it into? Mixer to PC?
I use two sm57's into Mackey VLZ16pro, then into cakewalk via 4x4 interface in the PC . mic is usually 1" away from the grill, between the center of the speaker and the edge.

I have been talking with some pro audio guys and I have learned alot about recording at home. Its possible to get totally professional recordings with very little. I was told to get a Sennheiser E609 ( I think that was the one) and a Universal Audio SOLO/ 610. The Universal Audio stuff is like the best mic pre's you can get. The old 610s were used on the early Van Halen recordings, and other famous recordings. Green Day uses them too. They get some high quality guitar recordings.......too bad they are using Boogies. Check out the Universal Audio stuff. Here is some links to some good mic pre's and mics: www.uaudio.com/products/analog/SOLO610/index.htmlwww.summitaudio.com/www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=USE609%20SILVER

I been seeing the Sennheisers on a lot of amps, (not in oklahoma LOL! sm57 country I guess). I didnt know which models they where using.. Thanks for the info.. Not much to demo from around here! so its a guessing game sometimes.

I've been using Sennheiser E609's in my studio and have had fantastic results. I have the original ones, though - not the silver ones. I have heard the silver ones are not as good, but couldn't tell you why...
