That guy won?? Man they are hurting in Manhattan for good blues players. That guys tone is "schite" for the first part. The second part his technique blows da bung! Listen to the bend he trys to pull off after his attempt at that fast ascending picking run (which was just slop) the bend isn't even in tune. For crying out loud. Stay in the right key. Bleh!!!!

Ughh I can't stand that guy. He gets all kind of local cred around here and he is just cheap SRV hack. Nothing original or mindblowing. He also won the"Best Guitarist" award for the Asbury Music Awards in NJ. I would give him some respect but I have met him and think he's an a-hole.

OK, I just watched the video and I can honestly say that I'm no guitar supertar but I can do way better than that. I should have entered the damn contest and spanked that blusor. That was just a sloppy mess with random gimmicks thrown in. Poorly done man.

You should have entered it Don and blown that guy away. I think that guy will look back at that performance in a few years (or when he finally gets it) and say "Man that was so ghey of me!!!" We can't fault him for going out there and doing what he can do. But it's painful to watch. :-)

your right TJ,, look back on that and say, delete file!! true, cant fault him.. can fault judges!! was the competition that lacking for players? I just cant believe that!!

To Matt's defense I have seen him play much better but never anything that would win him a best guitarist award. This guy gets a lot of good show spots and wins alot of contests so I have to call foul play or a great agent/manager. Once again, its always who you know. |

But it's painful to watch. :-) I entered one of those Guitarmageddon BS contests once and got beat in the first round by a kid playing pathetic elementary blues stuff and some guy who freaked out on his fret board and was all jumping and show. Seriously, the kid must have been playing for a few months and they must have felt bad for him. It's an f'in competition! If you can't play then don't enter! That was my first and last competition EVER. |
