Ok, this is a new thread just for chits and giggles. Anyone else had any national act opening slots in their career? Go ahead and toot your own horns!!!! My band has opened up for Quiet Riot, Slaughter(twice) April Wine, Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, Jimmy Van Zant band(several times as well). Hmmm, oh yeah actually we played a gig at one of our local establishments with a huge outdoor deck, Firehouse played first out on the deck, then during the changeover, the three hundred people that were there came inside and watched my band play, then went back outside to watch Slaughter play on the deck SOOOOOO, in essence Firehouse opened up for us!!!!! LOL I love to tell that story. Im sure that the guys from Firehouse wouldnt agree with the statement, but that was the band order!!! TEE HEE. Anyone else?? lets hear em

And just as an afterthought, When we opened up for Slaughter the second time, they actually used our backline, and the guitar player Mark?? Blando blew up my brand new marshall head, his tech had impedences mismatched, using DI, for some god-awful reason, and the prick never even apologized or said anything except, Yeah it just quit working man. Then he proceeded to pull out a crate 50 watt stealth head of his own LOL. I remember Dana Strum the bass player wasnt all that happy about running through our bass players Gallien Krueger rig( he wanted his SVT stack of course!!). At least Mark Slaughter was cool, the rest of em were real dinks, thought they were all that.

oh, and the drummer I was playing with for a few days opened up for quiet riot, lynch mob, bands like that...

the 80s metal cover band i'm in opened for Blue Oyster Cult a few months ago. but during the years before i joined, those guys opened for RATT, warrant, Dio, Slaughter, Cinderella, Bret Michaels, and basically any other hair band that came through town.
i wish i was around when they opened for Ratt.

THE GODZ!!! funny Actually I had a run in with the former guitar player from The Godz named Mark Chatfield. I sold him( what was I thinkin? ) my 1956 Fender Tweed Champ amplifier, actually traded it to him for a Gibson Les Paul studio in white dead even. I think that was back in 1999 or 2000. Then as a sidenote I sold the studio to a kid who wanted to play guitar so bad and couldnt afford anything worth playing. He got in a bad car accident and was brain dead for a few days before he died. He loved that guitar sooo much that him Mom put it inside his coffin and it is now buried with him six feet under.

Night Ranger, Warrant, Slaughter. Almost Quiet Riot. We decided to go to the beach instead.
