yeah, well...whatever....lol... boils down to time and energy..ain't got the time or energy to do a completely new startup band right now...got this band on its feet before I was busy with everything else so I had time to do all that start up B.S... which is what pisses me off the most..we were finally coasting then bam..brick wall.. d**n rythm section..always the rythm section...lol this is what we said before, this takes alot of time and it takes alot of energy to find these people... ads in the paper/auditions/first shows with new guys/having to tell them it's not working out...it's all alot of time and effort. it's all driven by gigs that you have to meet. if you're not actively gigging then there's no pressure on you to find these people and band's tend to fold. when you find your core guys who can play, who you can get along with and who have the time to gig then you just play w/ those guys. i mean, i just recently found a drummer that fits these criteria (so far)..... I think that's what pisses me off the most...we had a good group of guys...but as time went on one of the guys started to have unrealistic expectations and decided to call it quits... we're not the Nerds or some other national coverband act...we're a bunch of weekend warriors who like to go out and have fun..the one guy just started to get his panties in a bunch and stopped having fun and sucked the fun out of it for the rest of us..and, he decided he was going to stop booking gigs because he had his mind made up to leave already and didn't inform the rest of the band..thus the sparseness of our schedule over the next month and a half.... so, once he announced he was leaving, the other guitar player who owns and sometimes runs the pa figure he's gonan call it quits as well AND he's takin' the PA with him..not only is he taking it, he's SELLING it..so, bam...no PA system...most places we play don't have their own sound... it's a ginormous pain in the keister to be sure... so right now I'm sending emaails to established bands looking for another guitar player..I'm tryin' to keep me and the singer and the drummer together, but the lack of a bassplayer AND a PA..well, it's just another deathblow that we can't overcome..and I'm the only one lookin' into options so in the end I'm gonna friggin' do what's best for me...nuff said..lol

i hear ya about that guy with unreal expectations...people think they'll be happier in a really successful band (whether it's originals or covers). what happens is that a new slew of problems/issues/pressures face you that you never considered.
currently, i'm putting my old party band back together. my only expectations are to play gigs w/ people that i really like, and just have fun....

Finding those key people is really, uh, well key to getting something fun and good rolling. Back in 2002 it took 5 months to get Dirrty Hairy going.. but this new band with my drummer we did it in 3 weeks. find that one guy or 2 guys and it will make it easier.

I must be lucky, I've been in the same band with the same guys for 13 years. We all get along very well though, and we've never really even had an argument.
