based off the pic that was taken in 79 from their rehearsal room that shows the back of the marshall, there's a toggle switch on the back next to the lettering that isn't on stock marshalls. i spoke w/ mark cameron on this and he thinks this is the mod that jose did. he can explain it better as to what he thinks it does but it basically was to drive the amp a bit harder.

I never saw that before. yeah, I'm not buying that story. Anythings possible but Zeke swears that old one was never modded by Jose..

Zeke Clark (Eddie's old tech) has gone on record many times stating that Jose never touched THAT Marshall. Zeke did more work to it than anyone before or after him,, but mostly repairs not mods. That head was f'ed up by Eddie over the years so bad it was practically unusable by 1988. I used to play a club in Detroit that Zeke hung out at all the time. he used to tell us all the VH horror stories. His sister or something lived up there.. anyways, I'd trust Zeke over some Cameron heresay or some GW article anyday. I have heard that Eddie liked Jose and wanted to help his business so he started the whole Jose mod thing. This would also throw people off his trail as they try to duplicate the tone....The whole mystic thing. D |

From what I've heard EVERYBODY liked Jose. He was supposedly an insanely nice cat and did alot of freebie work for his friends.
