ain't that how life is? jimbo can do them but doesn't use them, I can't do them and WANT to incorporate them....argh! I had to learn them...in the late 80's I had a gig that used alot of the sweep arps in the guitar solos...if you ain't sweepin you ain't playin in our band kinda thingy...it took a while to play them evenly and smooth AND play them to where they FIT into a solo instead of just bustin them out all over the place...maybe I'll post a 'sweep' solo here in the near future...I'll have to practice up on em'... i used to practice them constantly..but could just never do a full sweep....so I stuck with quads...I mean, I can KINDA play a full sweep, but they're sloppy as all get out..so I don't even bother anymore really...

Its a terrible thing watching guys try to do sweeping arps that can't...makes ya cringe...I only practice the basic sweep arps major and minor, I don't even practice the diminished anymore because it's an Yngwie cliche'...the sweeps I do take on the typical chord shape forms 6 and 5 string with hammer-on turn around etc...I don't like the 3 and 4 string 'quicky' because it sounds like a 'slur' so what's the point? I just alt pick em...every once in a while I'll practice the sweep into RH hammer-ons in various scales and then rake back the rest of the arp etc...standard crud you see on these videos and a Lynch staple (as I'm seeing more and more)...problem is...you can't really use this stuff in the 'real' world of music gigging..unless you are in a rare situation like Craig where you can...so, I don't waste too much time on them...they are barely on lick 'life support' as far as my playing...if I had too I can bring them up to snuff in a month or 2 of heavy practice...
