Wait a minute, I take that back. I remember the Modern Day Romeos from the Plexi Palace. That guy used to use 5150s w/ 5150 4x12s. So, I really don't know. If it is a 5150 it could be a JerryP modded 5150. Has that sizzle to it.

LOL I remembered the Plexi Palace had a Modern Day Romeos thread. I remembered hearing when he got the mod. Sounds pretty decent for a 5150!

You guys really think that clip sounds good? Nothing against the player, but the tone is pretty fuzzy and very cold sounding to me. Really flubby bottom end too. Reminds me of my old 5150,, LOL.

I didn't really like it that much! After I listened to it a few time I recognized it as a 5150, because of the fuzzy distortion, and the flubby bottom end.

I hate to break it to everyone, but a certain degree of fiziness was a defining characteristic of EVH's earlier tone =)
I didn't say it was the greatest tone ever...but it's got the VH vibe going on...if he went to a studio and it came out like this, then yeah..I'd have a problem...but not bad for a home recording..
anyway, this just makes me glad that I haven't posted any of my crummily recorded clips of my non splawn amp, because I'm sure you'd tear me a new one =)
