Yep. Love old VH. Especially the playing and tone Eddie got on Fair Warning. Lots of attitiude and swagger on that album. It has been described as a pissed off sound and I agree!

No I didn't. He came to Biloxi, MS. and I heard some clips of previous shows and honestly I didn't want to go for fear of being disappointed. The tickets were damned expensive (around 50 bucks if I remember correctly).
I saw them at the same venue, Mississippi Coast Coliseum on the 5150 tour in '85 when I was 13. Awesome show. I was like 3 rows back from the front of the stage. He played the Steinberger for Summer Nights and towards the end of the show his rig crapped out and had to play through Sammy's. I think Sammy's rig was solid-"mistake" Randalls lol....
Unfortunately I never got to see DLR era Van Halen. I do have some bootlegs (DVD of Nassau show from Diver Down tour, very cool).
Thanks for setting up this forum.

Anyone know where I can quality live recordings of the DLR era VH? I love that "classic". The earlier the better as I think Van Halen, based on some videos I've seen, was on the whole a much tighter, aggressive and hungry live band in the early days ('78 thru '81).
Thanks!

Could it be possible to play guitar and not be a Van Halen fan? I think not.
Ed rules. He was barely out of high and had a style and tone like no one else. A true pioneer.
I saw them back in 1980 and again in 1988.
