I made the mistake of going Line6 about 7 years ago. I was touring and needed something small and versatile.. so the Flextone 2-12" 100 watt. What a piece of crap. The motherboard dies twice and I'm stuck literally on an Island 300 miles away from the nearest Line6 Dealer.. it was a nightmare. I had to drive 5 hours from Marco Island back to orlando for the only authorized Line6 repair shop... never again.
No offense to you guys but those Line6 clips sound REALLY bad. Just my opinion, but both Vom's and the direct ones sound cold and lifeless.. even through a Splawn cab. Nothing against the playing, I mean strictly speaking tone.

this is why i decided to find a good tube amp and ultimately found the QR. i definately agree with you craig about the lifelessness of the line6. that's something that after a year of playing with the amp i couldn't deal with anymore. i eventually developed a craving for something more responsive and organic.

I have a line 6 spider that I love. It's great for home practicing when I can't crank my Splawn. I also have line 6 riffmaster for pc. Great piece of software. Craig that's exactly what happened to mine when i was playing out. The motherboard had something go wrong internally and Voila! no more line6.

sure for a practice amp or noodling on your PC TJ,, hecks yeah anything would work.. Its just not pro gear though. And the Pros who are using them live are not using them on their recordings.

i understand the fact that there's been some defected ones...but hell my splawn blew up once, and never my line 6....

Wow, thats crazy. I haven't had so much as a hiccup out of any of my tube amps over the years. Both my QuickRods have performed double and triple duty.. even letting other guys use them for shows. To each their own though, but I still say you pull one of those Line6 amps apart and inside you have a kids toy LMAO.. you can put a piece of poop inside a nice head-case, buts its still a piece 'O poop. The guitar players equivalent of a Mr. Microphone.

Hmm interesting Comment shreder75,, midiverb pop'ed your splawn did it? OOPS!
Vomhalen! not knocking anything, the clips just had too much highs in the recording and the bottom was woofy, probably from mic placement or?? thats why I was almost thinking it was a open back cab combo amp. ( they seem to woof easy when cranked up) sure made us all think! good move!! mixer settings, recording/mixer settings can mask about anything :-) about like satriani on a Peavey JSX,
anyone been able to play a JSX?
Dudes! if a amp blows,, rather solid state or Tube.. chances are either way your hosed! I can get solid state parts from radio shack or local geek guy!! Try finding a MM Transformer quickly! or matched EL34's! man I cant even find match tubes most of the time in tulsa, I have to order them. I fix SS amps 4 times faster than tube amps.. and a lot cheaper! last amp was SS I fixed cost $1.99 for two power transistors, soldered in and out the door it went.
