I was hoping that someone here might be able to help. I have noticed on the last 2 occasions that I fired up my modded 1987 that the sound coming from the speakers was very brittle, full of highs and rather harsh. I checked my cables, took everything out between the guitar and amp and it still did it. I shut the amp down, powered up again and it worked. It has done this in the past and at the same time this happens there is a very loud 'pop' when I engage the solo boost, that is not there otherwise. Can anybody offer up some possible explanations?? The power tubes look good and there hasn't been many hours on them. All the preamp tubes were replaced within the last 6 months.
Cheers Jason

Hi Jason, It has been my experience that lost of low end tone and harshness is usually the power tubes first...but I would also check the preamp tubes as well. You never know with tubes they can go as soon as you install them. Good luck!

The pop in the channel boost makes it not sound like a tube problem, more a circuit problem. I would try contacting Scott during business hours, he should be able to help you out.

Yes I would agree that this would be a circuit re;lated problem. Maybe a lose circuit or sometihng needs a tightening. Sometimes when you have new Power Tubes there can be a little residue in the tubes and can actually make a 'pop' noise until the residue burns away. I dont think this is your issue however. Good Luck! I am shipping my Marshall 2203x for all the mods tomorrow!YES! There is a little wait but it will be worth it!
