Finally saved enough cash to get a cabinet.. I would have liked to get a matching Splawn cab, but going with the Avatar allowed me to save $100 bucks…and it sounds great. I ordered it with one Governor and one Man-o-war, closed back, 16 ohm total rating. The Pro-Mod sounds great! I’m very happy with this set up.. On another note, I answered a post on HC for a local band a few weeks ago and I have an audition this Wednesday.. Tunes they gave me to learn… Whitesnake – Slide it in. Rush – Subdivisions AC/DC – Shot down in flames Sammy Hagar - There’s Only One Way To Rock DP - Perfect Strangers & Women from Tokyo. (Would have preferred something from Machine Head though ) Judging from the list, I would imagine they must be a pretty talented bunch of dudes. (i.e. a drummer that can handle Neil Peart and a Singer that can hit those high notes.) I'm a little nervous, since it’s been over 5 years since I gigged out.. But I’ve been working on these tunes everyday.

DP Perfect Strangers is a great song. I wish Blackmore would do more stuff like that. His new Dungeons and Dragons type music and dress is a bit much. Now if he was singing Monty Python tunes from the Holy Grail I'd love it! LOL!!! Congrats on the cab and the audition Page. Knock em dead!!!

Thanks for the comments.. I'm really looking forward to getting out and unleashing the Splawn.
TJ - I've always thought of Machine Head as one the best rock albums of all time. All those guys were on fire then. Hoping if I get the gig, I can work something in from that album.. hehe.. But I know what your saying about the Dungeons and Dragons music and the dress.. lol.
Vom - How's your new band treatin' you?

I think I know what you mean.. The tunes I had to learn for Wednesday, are songs I really never listened to that close and don't know them that well, so that I can play them and relax.. After you know a song and can play it without thinking about it, you can let the emotion take over, and your best playing comes out. I feel ya bro.. Good luck Friday!

Well, the audition went ok... They want me to come back again! I admit I messed up in a few spots, But one of the guys made the comment that he could tell I've had some experience and that the Whitesnake & AC/DC sounded really good. They need a little work themselves, so I know I'll feel much more relaxed next time. I just wish I had more time to tweak the Splawn, seeing as how it was my first time playing with it at band volume. I felt they were pressed for time, and were being a little inpatient. Maybe it was just my nerves. Just need to keep working at it..
