I bought it last May I believe, I think it was from the second batch or 12 he made, so it's missing the half power switch and low input but I probably wouldn't use them too much anyhow. My band just recorded over the weekend, the other guitarist has a Splawn modded JCM800, the sound engineer was sh!tting himself over the tone. I really love this amp, it's definitely the best amp I've ever owned as far as fitting my tastes and needs. I used the be a Mesa guy (Dual Recto, Mark III, Mark IV) and I owned a Bogner Ecstasy for a little while. I think the Splawn blends the fluid lead capability of the Mesas and Bogner with the mid-range crunch that cuts and sounds so killer for rhythm work. All my other amps did one thing well it seemed like and they were so complicated to get a great sound out of. With the Splawn I can set the EQ and I don't really ever have to change it regardless of my volume...and the solo boost is a killer option and I use it all the time in my band.
What drew you to Splawn?

Jay i love hearing about how people are blown away by the spalwns...what drew me to them is that i wanted a modded marshall that could get me VH tones...i spent $$$$ over the years and was always dissapointed, until i plugged in my quick rod for the first time...finally something sounded just like the clips straight out of the box
