Picking up a new 4x12 soon, it will be my only cabinet. Straight or Slant - opinions?

Straight sounds better, slant looks cooler. The splawn 412 slant uses a straight baffle board so I would imagine you get the best of both worlds. I have never tried one though personally. Good luck.

Straight is my choice, the high end doesn't blast you in the face.
Speakers: Manowars - 75 watt celestion mock ups, but don't have that super trebely high end.
Guvnors - V30 mock up but responds a lot better w/ the quickrod than the v30's, don't have that super nasty mid hump that makes a really honky sound. Better than v30's in my opinion.
Celestion 75: Good all around speaker but tainted with the trebely high end that will rip your head off. All in all a nice speaker with that one problem.
Celestion V30: Good speaker for almost everything except splawn amp. I love 30's but they just aren't my cup of tea with a splawn. The mid spike just doesn't seem to show the same good character with the splawn.
Celestion G12H30: REALLY REALLY REALLY freakin good speaker. Cross character of a greenback and a v30, with no nasty midspike of the v30. Smooth breakup and rich harmonics. Clean headroom is increased with an xpattern with a 75 or manowar. Really smooth, another fav of mine.
Greenback: Lacking clean headroom, but if thats not your thing, oh well these are great for those overdriven tones when you wanna push your pre gains up and hit the speakers and power tubes hard. Cranked, these sound GREAT.
X patterns - EMI X (guv/mano) Great cross pattern, plenty of headroom and smooth sound due to lack of high end treble. Works good with many other amps too.... (haven't had as much experience with this one so I'll let others input also)
FAVORITE CAB COMBO - MANOWAR/ H30's - Best of both worlds. You can really cover a whole lot of territory with this combo. I tested it with the following: Diezel herbert Diezel Einstein Engl SE Engl Powerball Engl Savage Engl Invader Splawn Quick Rod Framus Cobra Peavey Classic 100 Peavey Classic 30H Traynor YCV40 Traynor YCV40blue Mesa Dual Rec Marshall JCM 900 Bogner Uberschall
All sounded superb
Hope this helps ya!

Hey Josh great post. What do you think of the g12-65's or the EVM's with the quickrod?

Josh, great post. That last combo looks tasty since I have V30/H30 mix (hellatones) - and I've noticed some honkiness with anything played up the neck on the G-string. I'm talking guitar strings guys. I wonder if it's just the V30 talking, and the Mano would maybe help in this department. I agree with you, I prefer the H30 over the V30.
