Hey dudes, my comp will arrive in a few weeks and I need some speakers advice. I've seen a lot of praise here for the Scumbacks but they're too expensive for me. Right now I have a 2x12 cab with Vintage 30's, i'm thinking of either replacing one of them with a G12-75, or replace them both with greenbacks. I've also thought of G12-65's (though i've never heard them) or EVL's which sounds great in Al Estrada's clips. What do you guys recommend? Thanks

Wheres Shreder!! he is runnin the 12-65's from weber I think.. last I knew he really liked them. weber makes a lot of good speakers for other companies.
I have the celestion v30/H30 mix in my OS 2x12.. bottom end gets really big sometimes.. I didnt like the v30/g12t-75 mix, seemed like too much high end stuff going on.. but sound is subjective!!

I don't like the 75's as well, but they're supposed to mix well with the vintage 30's? Did you have the guv\man o war x pattern? Did you like it? How does it compare to the vintage 30's\75's x pattern?

I have the guv\man o war x pattern... to me its just the warmest, non-harsh sounding combo out there.

I just restored an old Peavey 412 cab with red Tolex and cane grille cloth. I put in the Gov/Man-0-War wired x-patteren.

those G12-65's interest me aparently they're like a better version of the G12T75.. but i quite like my T75 it's 18 years old and well broken in sounds stella with a G12H30..
the EVL's sound fantastic with the Splawn!

Did you hear the evl's in person? How would you compare them to other popular speakers?

i agree with dirrty! even though the man-o-wars are based on the v30s and the gov's are based on the g12t-75s they sound A LOT warmer with none of the( high powered) celestion high end bite and harshness,i am running a cab with all v30s(mesa) and a splawn cab with the x-pattern of gov's /MOW's and you can REALLY tell the difference,if i had to pick just one it would be the splawn cab hands down!.go with the gov/mow's!
