I'm getting a QR as soon as the house sells. I've got a Marshall 1960 cabinet. I'm happy with the Celestions G12T-75's in it. I'd kinda like to get a QR in a colored tolex, maybe orange, red or white, dunno yet. I'd want a matching cabinet of course! I'm thinking of buying an empty Splawn 4x12, swapping the speakers from the Marshall and selling off the empty cab. Disreguarding the speakers I have, what differences should I expect in the cabinets sound wise?

in my experience, the splawn will sound deeper with tighter bass...just my experience though

The Splawn cab will sound different. The dimensions may be similar, but the most noticible difference is in the backboard (IIRC)...the Splawn will have 13 ply birch where the Marshall will have MDF board. Also, I know there is some padding between the support rod and the backboard...I don't know if that is the case with the Marshall.
Bottom line, is it a night and day difference...IMO, no. Is it noticable, yes. I use a Marshall 4x12 sometimes for rehearsal...once the drummer kicks in, it's all a moot point. LOL!!!

;D Lets not forget the Splawn cab will have a scripture written inside somewhere. Oh, and the name on front will be splawn instead of marshall. HE. HE. LOL. The splawn won't have caster cups on the top, if it's a bottom cab. It won't have the skid pads on the top if it's a top cab, the marshalls have these items. The jack plates are different also. If you are talking in technical terms. But I agree with the guys about the better rear panel, along with the harder hitting bottom. Hope this kelps you. HE. HE. ;D

Thank you...I'm a sucker for red tolex. One thing I can assure you, everyone at Splawn pours their heart and soul into the product and it shows. That rig always gets compliments on looks/tone at every gig. I just wish my playing would give it more justice.
