Any of you guys have experience with NOS Mullards in preamp section of a Splawn? Just got my first Splawn (Pro Stock) a month ago, and it really does the job. But it seems a bit "thin" compared to my 1971 Superlead and my JMP 2203. Any tricks to beef it up a bit? Thank's The new Danish guy

Hi Guy,
NOS Mullards ECC83 are very nice & sound great Got a bit more Teeth ( bite) to it. But depending where & who you buy em from could run some Dough( not cheap) & Buyer beware as well. Now as for Beefy up the Tone You might want a MXR six band pedal or better yet I run a Xotic BB Preamp pedal ($200) through mine. Talk a bout a super fat thick Rich tone. Or a BBE Sonic Max. I use as well to tighten up the low end. Premamp tubes I just use what Scott throw in there (JJ) or The EH ECC83 I like those due to they got a bit more hair & bite to the Tone.
