How clean can the Pro Stock get with dialing down the guitar volume knob? I am thinking about getting one and it will be my only amp for a while.
I am not sure what I think about not having a clean channel, but if dialing down the volume on the guitar cleans it up enough at stage volumes with some chorus then I think I would be happy.

Depends on which gear you are in. In 1st gear it's not that bad. 3rd gear obviously it will be a whole lot more gain saturated and harder to be useable as clean. ALSO the tubes in the amp make some difference, pick-ups in guitar, effects pedals, etc......

JJ KT88 tubes, with Ibanez with Evolution/PAF Pro Pickups. Does the pro stock have a 3rd gear? I thought it only had 2 gears not 3?

Good question. I was actually a little suprised how much I liked the rolled-off-volume clean tones I get from my Pro Stock. I run EL34s and witha JB pick-up (hot, but not too hot a pup) it cleans up pretty well in the first 2 gears. Even in 3rd I find it usable. It's not a pristine Fender clean obviously but I dig it. Good luck!

A little OT here, but has anyone tried a "treble bleed" mod to their guitar? Supposed to retain the highs when you roll off the volume. Sounds interesting to me.

I've got an older model pro-stock, with a lo/hi input instead of a mode switch and el34's. So far I've played it with an x2n & an 81/81. I can get some pretty good sounding cleans out of both those axes (surprised me). This is running through the high input with the preamp gain anywhere between 1 & 5 o'clock, OD1. So I think that'd be about the same as 2nd gear with the newer models. I can still get it pretty clean if I leave it in OD2, but its alot harder.
