Hey guys,
I stumbled across Splawn Amps in my efforts to organize a new rig to use with my band - and it looks like the Pro Mod is the ticket for me.
I wanna get it in full plexi style, haven't decided on a color - thinking either dark blue, dark green or just straight black.
So my question is - from where should I order it? I'm not gonna get to play through it before hand - but I'm confident it'll sound rad, and I want to purchase it new. Figured this was the spot to get that info!
What do you guys think? Thanks for any input.

Well as far as ordering it, you can talk to me, or chubtone, we cruise this forum a lot and keep a lot of up to date build dates to help people circumvent the wait time. The Pro mod is nice, a little too articulate for me but no doubt a wonderful amp. Feel free to call me or chubtone regarding the amp. Either of us would be glad to send you over a PO to fill out so you can see what options there are and how ordering goes about. NOTE: The JJKT88s are an option. They were a little to hifi for my taste and I found the extra $100 in the pocket to be nicer, the Sovteks ended up my preference. Also w/ splawn amps, I tend to steer clear of V30's, though I love them with every other amp, I don't get the tones I want with them mixed w/ the splawn. Greenbacks, Emi-x pattern, and the Manowar H30 Xpattern have been major success! Just let us know what we can do. We also offer external Midi Switchers for them now too, the amp itself is not midi but can be controlled to be with use of the octocouplers. They have now added one that will affect the gears to be able to switch between them sort of like the pro-stock and competition.
Hope to have helped, Josh Sage

Word. I was actually lucky enough to stumble across a used Pro Mod - which I felt was a good enough deal to warrant foregoing the features of the newer model. Suffice to say, this thing fukking CRUSHES. I am blown away by how articulate the amp is. So now I'm saving for a Quickrod and a slant cab! Josh - thank you for your reply. When I get the cash together for my next half stack, you'll be the one I call. I might also try to get a new head box for this Splawn, but the cosmetics are slowly growing on me. I played Mesa Boogies for years now, but I think its time for a conversion! -Griffin

I felt the same way when I got my Pro Mod, so articulate and beautiful! I had the same dillema as you because I got mine used and couldn't choose cosmetics. I really wanted the full plexi look but I got the lexan window version on a trade. It eventually grew on me though if I ever get some $$ to order another one I will go with the plexi style. That looks the earliest version you got with the two inputs. Do you know if it has Mercury Magnetic transformers?

This is definitely an older Pro Mod - it's got the Mercury Mag trannies and no gear box. But I bought the thing for the rugged tone I expected from it, and it delivers, in spades.
It is signed on the box that the amp was used on the Ozzfest 2004 tour, so I imagine it was built in late 2003/early 2004.
It screams, and I love it. I'm stoked to pick up a newer Quickrod with the gear box and the newer clean channel. And a Splawn cab too...!
I'm currently rocking the head through a Soldano straight-front cabinet - I dont know what the speakers are in it, but they KILL.

I'll 2nd Josh on the V30 thing.. they just don't work with the splawn ihmo.
they're tolerable but when u try the X pattern of Celestion or Eminence Scott suggestions u soon realise the V30 is a bad choice.

I also play a Soldano cab but mine is the 2x12. It is the best sounding cab I've played through. I always wondered what speakers were in there because they sounded so much better to me than others. After some research I determined that they are Soldano proprietary X12000s. Maybe that's what yours has too.
