Almost saved up enough for the pro mod...just trying to figure out how I'm going to incorperate it with the rest of my rig.
Do you guys think the splawn would make a good power amp for my preamp(for cleans and other nice things)
I've done a fair amount of searching on the forum....the thing with the fx loop adding treble and gain...
he said turn it up so that the power section catches up with the preamp or something like this. I use a mixer, would lowering the send level into the return in the loop fix this?
And oh yeah...is there a pop or anything when you bypass the fx loop. I so wish you could switch the effects loop in/out with the footswitch.
Thanks all, my first post here...hello all:)

Sounds like a question for Matt Bruck.

Sounds like a question for Matt Bruck. Don't get me wrong, the splawn WILL be my main hi gain tone....I have a CAE 3+SE for other stuff(the cleans are awesome here). The only effects I like before the amp are phase 90, flange, and sometimes chorus(after the preamp mostly, and mostly for cleans)... Everything else is post preamp(delays, pitch shifters, verbs, chorus) My mixer/switcher is a Sound Sculpture switchblade(100% analog midi controlled levels) I have an Eventide Eclipse, MPX-1, and RSP 550 for my rack effects which are all routed by the switchblade. My 3+SE preamp is also run into the switchblade. Since the levels are controllable and programmable on the switchblade, I could set the preamp output of the splawn(effects send) to any level into the effects return of the splawn. This would keep me from using a tone sucking volume pedal. Maybe the poweramp wouldn't have to catch up with the preamp this way using the splawn's solid state effects loop. The Switchblade sound like a cable....it's that transparent(no ad/da..it's all analog) Thanks for replying man.....anyone else....

hey john,
I used a carvin x100 power amp for a slave for the QR. worked great. I would imagine the Promod would do this really well. my old 1988 x100 did.
your only going to get extra gain if you pump up levels into the effects return. I match.. seems fine and not out of balance.
I too wish there was a switch to remove the effects loop at first. then I came up with the iodea of moving the switching to the gmajor L/R and let it handle the slave etc.. and left the Gmajor inline for the control.
sorry I missed this post man! been crazy here on my homefront with personal stuff so I zoom through these.
how do you like the eclipse? I am really wanting one. but have this weird waiting thing to see how the pedals sound. I dunno why! I am not a pedal guy. call me crazy ( again!)
later!

I am really wanting one. but have this weird waiting thing to see how the pedals sound. I dunno why! I am not a pedal guy. call me crazy ( again!) later! Eclipse is awesome. All those diatonic harmonies from the harmonizer I was always dreaming about growing up the eclipse does in spades, and tracks even my most crazy shred licks. That's just the icing on the cake. Probably some of the best delays out there, verbs, chorus...hell EVERYTHING in the eclipse is amazing. It is a dream machine. Those pedals look like they will be cool, I might even get one of those too for my pedal shelf ;D. Yeah things have changed quite a bit since that post. My Suhr modded 3+SE + 2:90 rig is the bomb, and now I'm off the market for the pro mod for the time being. What I'm interested in is Scott's amazing looking cabs, I hope they're as good as they look and people say. I'm really impressed with them. I'm just going through a terrible cab and my rig cries for greenies. I played it through a bogner cab and I was like WOW. From what I hear from everyone the Splawn cabs are just as good as the bogners. I'm still interested in the pro stock(actually was the pro stock not pro mod....oops sorry), but I'm gonna test the waters with one of their cabs first. The splawn guys were super cool when I talked to them. I would have lowered the return level with the switchblade instead of boosting it, figured maybe that would have helped. It's still a possiblity I may go this route(splawn power amp). Hell I'd have a 5 channel super rig! The rest of the rig is this: Suhr modded 3+SE Eclipse mpx-1 roland rsp 550 switchblade 8b 2:90 pedal shelf: axess grx4 abcadabra ibanez cs9(original) evh phase 90 mxr flanger(late 70's or early 80's model) dod yjm analogman mojo mod on the way pedal power 2+ and hopefully: splawn 4x12 with as vintage of a look as I can get with greenbacks Thanks a bunch for replying man...If that 4x12 is awesome, I'll turn around and buy a matching one. the almost 100 watts a side from the 2:90 I'll have to be careful with those greenbacks and I plan on running stereo into one cab(not ideal I know, but only temporary), so I'll need to be careful until I get the second one. Lata mang, John
